    Smudger Don deal.

Alan Smith has completed his move to MK Dons, signing a two-year deal with the League One side.

Smith last kicked a ball for Newcastle in the 2-4 defeat at Norwich in December, coming on in the 89th minute and he also appeared as a late substitute in the home victory over Fulham in August 2011.

He went out on loan to Milton Keynes in January 2012 and featured 18 times for the Dons - scoring twice - including a playoff semi-final goal against Huddersfield that couldn't prevent them losing 2-3 on aggregate.

Poor old Smudger, had quite a few critics but he always gave his best. It's a pity that his best was before he came here but he didn't force us to sign him. His head and his heart still worked, it's just a pity that his legs weren't up to it.

He should do well at the Dons and I wish him the best.

Hold no malice whatsoever towards him. There will be always those who'll say "he just sat and took the money" but its not always that simple. They take on financial commitments based upon earning a certain amount for a certain period of time, i.e they can't afford a wage drop sometimes however ridiculous that may seem. I don't know if thats the case with Smith but I just think its an example of why not to judge. We really don't know the ins and outs of these footballers lives.

He clearly enjoyed being here and was a big part of the fizzy pop season and the off field committee which stopped us imploding. I'll always be grateful for his role in those two things and the utter professionalism he displayed in his time here. No big time charlie about him. As you say AB, he didn't ask us to sign him. Good man and good player before his injury at Man U

Saw the game his accident happened in and thought he'd never play again. Just shows the determination of the guy to get up and get going again.

It was a horror. The kind that leaves you feeling a little queasy. David Busst left me feelling a similar way.

Have a lot of respect for him. Not his fault we agreed to put him on a ridiculously long, over-paid contract. I don't blame him for seeing it out at all.

Never shirked a challenge and was always 100% effort. As a lot of others have alluded to, he was one of the main players in clubbing together and installing some pride in our shirt when we got relegated.

Wish him the best of luck.

wish the lad luck. It wasn't great how he sat on his fat salary when he could have moved on... but would I move away to take a pay cut? probably not given the recession.
May not have been our most gifted player ever but he gave 100% and never shirked responsibility.
Will always remember his contribution in our championship winning season.
    Good luck Smudger lad.
