Richard Cawley of the SLP has reported Lawrie Wilson was at Charlton today for a medical. So with the fee previously reported around £250k-£400k where has our broke club got the money from to do this deal and if we really are heading for administration as CL would have us all believe how would we have the money to pay Stevenage a downpayment anyway? I for one think it's good news, and will provide some much needed cover for Solly. http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/...%20closing%20in%20on%20Lawrie%20Wilson%20deal
But also CP would play him at right-midfield if neither Green nor Wagstaff prove up to Championship football. Green has more ball-skills and Wagstaff has more speed and finishing ability but Wilson has a better all-round game and could earn a place if they fail to cut the mustard. I don't think a young player whose career is still on the up has come content to sit on the bench (at best). The other and gloomier explanation is that we expect Solly to leave.
I'm shocked that we can even afford the fee for the medical... Have to admit, I know nothing about this player at all except that he used to be on our books and we're paying to get him back. Hi ho.
He's one of our own! Like Green and Haynes! Seems a pattern is emerging. So that is what Valley Gold is really about. Develop them, release them on a free, then buy them back later.
Eddie, I think this may have been a subtext for a while. It appears from what he's said that he clearly wants and expects to stay but when the final bid does come in, it may simply be too much to resist. Sorry, my amend about Wilson crossed with your post.
@RichCawleySLP: Had further confirmation that Lawrie Wilson is go, go, go to become a #cafc player. And that doesn't mean Chris Solly is going anywhere!
2009... Dislocated ankle and broken leg in three places... Ouch...!! Bet they'll have a good butchers at that during the medical.
I remember a doctor telling me that he would take a broken leg over a torn tendon anyday. A broken leg hurts like hell for a few days and depending on location can usually heal with no complications. It also only supports mid femur about 12% of the bodies weight. A tendon tear or rupture hurts like bugger for weeks, is harder to treat and will never heal exactly as before.
Tell me about it mate. When i suffered a complete rupture of my ACL (taking 75% of my cartilage with it) it sounded like a broom handle snapping, and the pain that followed was ridiculous. Seven operations later and it's still in a s**t state... I would've tahen a broken leg any day of the week...!! Although, surely a dislocated ankle and broken leg in three places is as close to a career ending injury as it gets...? Didn't Eduardo and Alan Smith suffer a isimilar injury...?
Confirmed on Stevenage's website that he has signed for undisclosed fee..... http://www.stevenagefc.com/page/LatestNewsDetail/0,,10839~2836236,00.html
I dont know much about him, so i will refer to my ever reliable scouts from Football Manager! Is he a bit of a utility player then (right back, right midfield) or is he an out and out wide man? Even though I dont know much about him as they say on the american currency "In SCP we trust"
We have no money but happen to sign 2 players (one on a free but still) surely we some of the fans here need to cheer up and not be as pessimistic, yes i know we have a lot to have been pessimistic about in recent years but remember guys we are on the up. Lets just hope he does well and is decent back up for Solly or even replaced Green or Waggy at RM
We have also rejected an offer from Oldham for Clarke http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11684/7884994/Addicks-reject-Clarke-bid Does that mean that we have accepted an offer for one of our forwards? The things that happen at crisis clubs just amaze me
With regards to clarke I am betting the offer from Oldham was not what we value him to be at, rather than him being in first team plans. I wouldn't be concerned if he left though.
