The difference between sam johnstone and jack butland is that one plays for man utd, and one plays for cash strapped birmingham, without seeing either play, and hearing good things about both, its obvious that only one will be potentially moving down south on a permanent basis.

While it would be good to get a young keeper for the future, I'd like to see someone with PL experience. If KD is out for a couple of games, we will need someone who can step in to PL game and get us some points. Every point is going to be big for us and to have a young GK who is not at least starting most games for a Championship team as the back up would be a real gamble if KD is out.

The issue of course is, he's not been fit for four years.

I was listening to talk sport the other day and Martin Allen was on from Gillingham. They have a keeper called Paulo Gazzaniga and apparrently they are in talks with some premiership clubs about his signature. Would not say who but I'm guessing this could be us given the cloak and daggers approach. Never heard of this guy but this would be my bet.

Only passing on what he said on the radio. Listen and draw your own conclusions as I posted the link to it.

I take it you don't know Hoadie? :p He's a Gillingham supporter who has managed to piss off about half of the teams on this website through posting incessant nonsense on their boards, we had him here for a while (mainly in the FM thread) until a team effort to reveal his cheating chased him away. I just fear that he'll sense a Gillingham player being mentioned and be back in a flash.

I think the question is whether Kelvin is going to be our no. 1 next season or whether he is going to be back up? Now, if there is any truth in the Butland rumour, I can't see him coming in as back up. Personally I would like to see Kelvin given a chance. He does have premiership experience. However, if we do want a first choice, how about Paul Robinson?

I wouldn't want to be Britain's goalkeeper at the Olympics looking at the Brazil and Spanish squads!

Never heard of the bloke. Not on here that much so missed that one. Thanks for the explanation, I though it was yet another example of me getting old and not being down with the crap my 13 year old keeps coming out with!

Love that link. A lighthearted look at the season, made me laugh.

Bounced. After last night it's quite clear that we need two new keepers. Forecast isn't even a substitutes substitute! So who do we want/will we get?

Nigel has mentioned signing one or two keepers. I would think one back up for Davis and one youngster. I would guess Davis will only get this one season as number one for us, unless he plays a blinder (which I would love).

Gillingham fan in peace! Paulo Gazzaniga is 6ft 5, an excellent shot stopper! His kicking and distribution is something to behold! We picked him up on a free after he was released by Valencia last summer! He played 19 games in League 2 last season and is already being talked about in the £1m range! The rumours are of a move to Southampton and Gillingham have him back on a season loan!
