The British F1 championship and a Brit in the final at Wimbledon, a day I am looking forward to. The F1 will take second billing to me, I like the start and finish but get a little bored with the middle bit, doubt I will be bored with the tennis, more edge of seat time. I must admit I don't get the anti Murray thing and I squirm when I read,"He is ****", **** indeed. a super fit athlete who is number 4 in the world and win or lose is in a Wimbledon final, oh and a multi millionaire. Then I hear people who are none of these calling him ****. Is he Mr Happy, not really but then again I'm not after marrying him, becoming his best mate or even liking him, I just would like to see a British champion, if he wins we will have one so I will cheer him all the way. I hear the same about our footballers, Richardson being a prime example, another fine athlete who is a long standing premiership player, something none of us are anywhere near, who earns a fortune, something most of us don't.By all means tell me he is not your favourite player, you think we can do better, you don't think he is a good fullback, but ****, don't think so. So why do so many do it, knock people who represent us, find the need to insult, abuse and demean. Why the English because it's very much an English disease. You watch two very successful sports nations in the USA and Australia and they seem to back and rejoice in success, we seem jealous of it, why is that? We tend to watch someone from our neighbourhood, school or family succeed in life then call them and knock them for it, why do we do that? I'm in a questioning mood today.
Maybe cos he's British when he's winning, then once he gets beaten he reverts back to being Scottish.
Andy Murray will do something Tim Henman never did. Lose in the final. Only kidding. I personally hope he wins but believe Federer will win. He's been there before, knows about the pressure etc. Although AM has a better head to head record has never taken a set off Federer in major finals
I have to agree with you syd. Why do we knock these people back. Whenever we get a report about a player we are interested in there's is always one who says 'Wouldn't have him, he is ****'. How can a player who is in another Premier League team (they usually are) be described as ****. He is doing something all of us here aren't good enough to do. Okay maybe someone could say I don't like him we all have our opinions but to use such emotive language really is taking it too far. I may not be the greatest Andy Murray fan. In fact I think he is..... oh no better not say that but I wish him all the best today. His record against Federer is reputed to be won 8 lost 7 or so it was reported in the Daily Mail so it should be pretty close and may the best man (hopefully Murray) win.
well i think tennis is in pritty bad shape if he is "world number 4" as i dont think he is very good, sorry if that offends you but it's my opinion.
I hope Federer will win. Andy Murray "I am not British, I am scottish" Andy Murray walked on to the court at Queen's wearing his scottish bandana after newspaper reports saying 'we' had a player who could win Wimbledon. Considering the majority of his fans are English he seems to come across as going out of his way to make a point of him being Scottish and nothing to do with being British or English.
Obviously there is some skill involved in any sport but, when these sportsmen finish at 30 odd or so what do they fall back on? punditry which is what anyone on here can do. Don't like tennis never have done and F1 is a load of bollocks although I have watched a couple of races which if I'm honest were okay. As for saying players are ****e then so what can we not have an opinion right or wrong anymore? Last season I said Bendtner was ****e and would do ****e all got slated by some for being myopic and, others tried to turn me on to him. Same thing with Brown and O'Shea when they came I said they were ****e or why is SAF getting shot of them. Also stated that we'd be lucky to get a full season out of both combined, although Brown impressed more than O'Shea. As for Fletcher I'll stick my neck out again and say he is ****e and, not worth the 10mil that Wolves want for him.
this is going to sound stupid... but has federer ever had pressure on him like he will today. He is such a gentleman he is always the crowd favorite even when playing nadal but today he wont be Im sure its not going to bother him at all im just wondering?
When he was alot younger and alot more immature..... he has grown up alot since then im not going to be able to change your opinion but he has grown up
Murray is the man who said who would he support if England were playing and he repied anyone who beats them. Very British BTW I am Welsh
I had a very enjoyable day yesterday watching England grind the Australian cricketers into the ground and it was a warm sunny day. Federer the GOAT (greatest of all time) is favorite and it is hard not to admire the man, but for his Muuray's and a little for ours I hope Andy does upset the form book and win, there is nothing wrong with being Scottish and British and for a person who survived Dunblane good on him
Similar to Syd, I want to see a British driver win the Grand Prix but couldn't face the prospect of having to watch the whole race...As for the tennis, I fully expect this to go with the form books and Federer to add yet another title to his impressive collection..However, that will not stop me being fully behind Murray and willing him to win..
