Players can get kicked, punched, pushed, knocked and they fall to the ground screaming in agony...

Yet they can have a football blasted off any body part at close range by a professional EPL footballer, and they don't bat an eyelid?

This just shows the rift between diving and the true stamina these guys have. They're pro footballers and highly resilient to the rough and tumbles of the game, so much so that they can have a football whacked off them at full pelt from 10 feet and act like nothing happened. I don't know about you guys, but if that happened to me I'd be squirming like a bitch.

On the other hand, even the slightest trip or knock will leave them writhing around in agony. It isn't exaggeration. It's just bare faced acting.

Never thought of it like that, but now you say it, it is stupid. The only reason they don't go down is because they're defending and as it can't be a foul it could lead to a goal!

I know where your coming from like! defenders will throw their body infront of the ball get it blasted off them then hobble a little bit while rubbing the affected area, the same player will get a slight nudge form a striker and need medical attention at the side of the pitch! if your going to act at least make it believable

Sometimes I don't even notice players doing that. It's not that they're resisting going down either. They get wholloped hard and don't even bat an eyelid. There's such adrenaline going through them that they barely seem to feel it and just continue as normal. However, get a knock or a trip, and they're down screaming.

I don't think it's that as much, just that defenders play fairly (generally) and strikers/wingers will cheat to win free-kicks.

Reminded me of the John Terry Swan-dive block for England!

That was fantastic, one thing I will say about Terry is that he's not afraid to get stuck in. That dive was an epic act of complete selflessness!

Although I don't like the guy, I can't question John Terry's bravery. Remember when he got kicked in the face at some cup final? He stuck his head in where he knew he was lightly to get wacked..................................shame Ashley Cole doesn't do the same, there would be a queue a mile long to kick that **** in the face.

The greatest example of this was the Chelsea Barnsley FA Cup match a few years ago (1/4 final I believe).

Barnsley scored early, and then were literally throwing themselves onto Chelsea players' feet to block shots. Great match.

    It's adrenaline
If your actually defending despourately it doesn't hurt nearly as much

Of course there is a lot of simulation when they go down after contact though
