SWANSEA boss Michael Laudrup is planning a double swoop for Chico and Jonathan de Guzman.

Laudrup wants to reunite with the duo who starred for him at previous club Mallorca. Genoa defender Chico, 25, is rated at £3million while Villarreal want £7m for midfielder De Guzman, 24. - Sun ......... Former Spain Under-21 international Chico, whose full name is Jose Manuel Flores Moreno, 25, is rated at £3m by Serie A outfit Genoa. The centre-back has also attracted interest from Real Betis in his homeland, but Swansea are expected to tie up the deal in the next 48 hours. Laudrup is also keen to link up once again with attacking midfielder De Guzman, 24, after the club missed out on Gylfi Sigurdsson after he joined Tottenham, despite the Icelandic star agreeing to join the Swans last month following his loan spell from Hoffenheim last season. De Guzman excelled under Laudrup at Mallorca during the 2010-11 season, but was sold to Villarreal for a fee in the region of £7m.

Having lost the race to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson on a permanent basis and seen a number of his side’s top performers linked with moves away from the Liberty Stadium it seems that Michael Laudrup is keen to bring in a continental talent or two to help beef up his Swansea City squad. Defensive solidity was a strong part of Swansea City’s successful first term in the Premier League and the Dane wants to beef up his centre back options and has therefore targeted Genoa defender Jose Manuel Moreno ‘Chico’, who last term enjoyed a season long loan spell at Laudrup’s former club Real Mallorca and would be tempted by a move to the Premier League.

Canadian born attacking midfielder Jonathan De Guzman impressed many during his five year spell at Feyenoord and enjoyed a season at Mallorca under the Swansea City manager before being sold to Villarreal, who were promptly relegated last term. De Guzman is a similar attack minded goal-scoring midfielder to Sigurdsson and may well be offloaded by Villarreal as they look to balance the books having dropped out of the Spanish top tier. - The Newshound

Looking good lads, Huw Jenkins wants a loan deal on De Guzman with an option to buy, though Villarreal would prefer to recoup most of the £7million they paid to Mallorca for the Dutchman, to balance the books!............... <ok>

Things are starting to move , really good news about Alan Curtis too, I hear that the players are looking forward to the new season as well, makes for a happy ship and hopefully a really succesfull season. All I wish for is some better protection for our lads from some woefull refereeing decisions last term!

I have seen both of these guys play for Mallorca in the flesh against Real Madrid. Mallorca lost 2-1 after being a goal up at half time - unlucky not to get something from the game. They did OK!!!

We're going to need two centre backs. Monk will have to settle for fourth choice. I'd also sign two attacking midfielders too, which would enable us to let Dobbie leave and get the football he deserves elsewhere. If one of the AM's can play out wide too then so much the better.

Michael Laudrup wants to sign someone who looks like him so he doesn't have to do press interviews after games.

Hence, Laudrup in for double swoop...

I wonder if Graham Jones had been chosen as manager how his potential signings would compare with M L's (no brainer really)

Damn right there - no brainer. I wonder what all the discussions were about.

You've gotta love the way this coming season is shaping up. I wonder who else will be coming on board.

Ditto. Let's see how much clout we really have .... you never knw we old end up with a pretty dynamic striker that commanded a place over Moore when he was here last.
