I'm stumped on that one too, I had the impression we were in the top two from day one and unbeaten at home until after xmas.
Er ... (note the "ER at the start of previous sentence) the awful run where we were winning most of our games and Guly played RM and Connolly was up front...... I was being a little sarcastic to the comment about Guly can't play RM. Apologies.
He didn't really have a bad run, but RM doesn't suit him, he likes to drift about abit. When he played RM our RB basically had two players to deal with.
we were. my point (though laboured now and we have moved on) was that Guly played RM when we were playing well and on a good run.
It isn't his best position agreed, but Lallana drifts about abit too, and you said Guly "can't" play there.
We had Guly, Chaplow, Cork, De Ridder and Puncheon all starting games on the right last season, and none of them made the position theirs. We're going to be up against it this season and we can't afford to be playing players out of position. This is why I think right mid is top priority. We need an ACTUAL right mid.
Lallana more or less stays on the wing, yes sometimes he drifts inside. Guly drifts in far to much for a wide player. That's why I prefer him in the middle or just behind the striker.
I can't believe I'm the only one really worried about a keeper! At the top level you have to have two keepers and atm we don't!
I agree completely, but I'm even more worried about central defence. If the thread was called "If you could make two signings" I would have said centre-back and goalkeeper!
