Compensation is said to be around £5m due to his age.

    £5m transfer and £50k+ a week = no signing.

This was always the fear with this one. He is in a very strong bargaining position and his advisers will be looking to make a killing from this one because he is unlikely to move for a little while. 50k may well be in keeping with the market but if you want to come to us you'll have to look further than the pound signs.

We may lose out on one or two along the way but we'll have a stronger squad unity as a result. I like him a lot but its the same with anyone coming through the door unless they're the next Ronaldo or Messi, fall in with our set up or go elsewhere.

He would like to be paid as much as possible. So do I. I would bet you do as well.

He thinks someone will pay him £50k. He may be right. Fair enough.

Equally though, he may be wrong.
if he hasw no takers at £50k then crawls back to us for, say £35k I hope he gets told to shove it sideways...

I'm a bit surprised at the emotion. It's not like he is anyone who owes the Toon any loyalty, or that he is breaking some sort of promise or letting us down in some way.

If you list your house for sale, get no takers and re-list for a lower price, have you been a greedy bastard ? Would you expect someone who had made you an offer before to tell you to shove it because you had hoped for more ?

I reckon he'll get £50k somewhere, no real issue with him not taking our first offer which if this report is to be believed ("sources say") we didn't make anyway.

I fully agree with you and good way to look it as well.

All the bookies still have yous odds on favourites to sign him as well mind.

I'd make Sunderland or Liverpool favourites, as the former have just got rid of Gyan (who has got to have been on 50K at least) and got a decent transfer fee to settle the sum Blackburn will get.

Would like him at Newcastle, but there's no point breaking the wage structure for him.
