Gunners after Tiote?

It's Talkshite so hopefully is a pile of pigeon **** but thought I'd share.
My personal view is that Arsenal never spend much cash... and £20m seems a bit light anyway....

This is Arsene Wenger we are talking about... Any price over 12m and he has heart pulpatations.

I personally was more worried about him going to a place like Chelsea where he was linked heavily before..

 

Van Persie is gone. Wenger doesn't have anyone to try and impress anymore so I suspect these big and expensive signings of his to drop off pretty quickly.

 

We aren't short of money though, we are one of a few clubs about breaking even and don't need to sell. Plus a 5 year contract to be bought out won't come cheap so a total non starter.

To be honest in our eyes he's worth 25m+ but in terms of the market, 20m is about right. I think he wants to stay and sees no reason to leave so it'll come down to whether Ashley wants the cash. I think he'll still be here.

the only reason things would get tricky is if Tiote's head was turned, he's said numerous times he likes the quieter life up here with his family - I'm not worrie about Arsenal - Manure, Chelksi or Tottenham might throw more cash around though...

 

Aye but if Mike accepts a bid its out of Tiotes hands essentially. There are not many footballers who stick around after being told their services are no longer wanted. Its all very well people putting ideals out there like "he can say no if he wants" but the reality is it doesn't work like that. Hopefully no one will show an interest and if they do Mike will knock them back. I think Cheik will be back to his best this season and Cabaye will only improve for the experience of last season. That being the case we could have one hell of a midfield engine room.

 

Yeah, fair point, but I meant more in relation to people saying Ashley wouln't accept £20m for him. He's signed up to a 5 year deal which implies the club, including Ashley, want him here, so in that sense, the only time it would get tricky would be if he has his head turned by prestige or personal terms!

 

on reflection we will sell all of our best players and get relegated.

As an Arsenal fan I don't think it will happen, tiote is a very good player but Wenger will never spend that much you should be more worried about City or Chelsea they will buy players just to weaken teams around them
