Laurent Koscielny is vastly underrated here.

I would like to know why.

He is the best CB in Premier League.

A lot of you will argue that it is Vincent Kompany, but I disagree. They both had extremely good seasons, but Kompany stood out more, the reason being that, he was playing in a strong defensive unit that had very good cover from midfield. Koscielny wasn't, he was alongside various partners last season and still performed exceptionally well, he was then in a partnership with Thomas Vermaelen, and, as we all know too well, he likes to think he is a forward, not to then mention, that Kieran Gibbs likes to think he is a right winger 50% of the time, it always left a massive burden on Koscielny to cover for their poor position and work rate discipline, now, it is completely unfair to disregard Koscielny's world class performances due to the amount of goals conceded last season, absolutely none of those goals we conceded were directly his fault, when there is a case to argue that a goal conceded was his fault, if you look into the play a bit more deeply, you will see the reasons, and they will show you he isn't the guilty party.

Now, not only did he have to put up with that burden of being played in what was effectively a 2 man defence. He also didn't receive adequate cover from midfield, yes, Mikel Arteta had a fantastic season, he was great, but there is only so much he can do, he lacked support as well, our 3 man midfield has a very simple job in terms of positioning and work rate, Arteta is the defensive midfielder, he is the deepest player in the middle, he sits back and cleans up the mess and distributes the ball, he did this job well, Rosicky was the main attacking point of our midfield, he ran into in the space on the flanks, he created the play up the top, he also did this job well, he even chased back a hell of a lot. But that brings me onto my last point, Alex Song, Rosicky shouldn't have been responsible for the chasing back, it should have been Alex Song, he was the man who was supposed to be playing that box to box role, but he wasn't. He would often go forward and not bother to come back, that would then leave Arteta with out support, which would then leave us vulnerable in midfield, which would then leave our defence exposed. You put that hand in hand with a 2 man defence, and you are going to concede.

A lot of you need to give Kosciely the credit he deserves, he is a better player than Vincent Kompany, he just doesn't have the platform to show it. I fully expect us to see even stronger performances from him next season, and then when he gets an inevitable move to Manchester City, you will all be calling him the best, not only in the league, but in the world.

 

Wow you really like Kos. Let's see what he does this next season with a fully fit CB partnership of Verm or Mertz. Until then, i can't seem to get the number 49 out of my head.

He's good and nothing more and to say he's the best CB in the premier league after shipping in 49 goals is idiotic indeed. Put him up against a big forward like a Carroll and Holt and see him get dragged around like a rag doll. On the ground he is good but his body strength is ****e for a top defender.

I would list the defenders better than him but i'd be wasting my time.

 

You're ****ing deluded thinking that long streak of French piss is a decent footballer.I'd put him in the same tier of **** Arsenal footballers like Gus Caeser ,Raphael Meade,Cygan etc etc.

 

Anyone who would put Koscienly above Kompany needs to visit the doctors immediately. Kompany is the best in the league comfortably, and one of the best in the world.

Kos is a fantastic player and arguably our best centreback in my oppinion, Vermaelen is very good but Kos is a better technical defender why is he starting to get into the France first team when they have a number of very good centrebacks at the moment.
