3-4m and we should sell imo. Great guy, great heart, some important goals last season, but for me not good enough for a starting berth up front and not an effective winger either. Wouldn't like to see him just rotting on the bench for most of this season, think he deserves better.
Personally, I don't mind what kind of player you are but just do what you're best at (whether that's entertaining and trying the unexpected whether it works or not - Adel or working tirelessly with some decents things happening as a result of the extra effort - Mackie). If I was playing then I'd love the ability of a Taarabt but in reality it's not there so I'd give my all to compensate and love players that do the same. It's the players that can be skillful but don't show it or even try it when they're having an off day and make no effort either - Bothroyd I'm looking at you!!!
Totally agree with this, seriously can not believe some of the posts why can't other people see that he gives us another dimension and a quality player everyteam needs a Jamie or two and I would rather have 11 Mackies on the field than look at some overpaid gutless wonders that do not have a clue about being passionate for your club. Jog on WHam
With us already having the likes of Lambert, Rodrigues, Sharp, Chung Lee, Do Prado and Barnard we defo don't need another striker. In midfield we need if anything an enforcer. So can't see why we would be linked to Mackie.
Mark Hughes quoted as saying; "We need to replace Jamie with a player at least five years older in keeping with the current squad. I don't see any significant problem in a like for like swap with Pompey for the 'ever green' Kanu, although he'll have to learn from our older players to fully realize his potential."
Would be gutted to see him go, but I am 100% sure this is rubbish. No way will we sell him, especially for that shocking amount. He stepped up well and truly last year and he was the one bright spark in that 6-0 loss to fulham when he made his comeback. I wasnt sure about him when he signed, but he won me over and I love the blokes attitude to qpr and his work ethic. Top top pro.
I don't see Mackie throwing himself into another possible relegation fight with another team. Not when his option, with his contract extension, is to be part of the huge positive changes that are happening at the club. He'll be here this season...
He would look odd playing for Southampton or the Hammers in Blue and White Hoops, coz he wouldn't want to wear any other shirt.
