Yes, after years of flirting with the idea, I am now a fully paid-up Season Ticket holder, and so is Channonfodder Junior. I don't feel any different yet. (Not strictly true as I feel less wealthy, or I will when the credit card bill arrives.) What difference should I notice, and when will it happen? So, do you remember your first season ticket and how much did it cost? I wonder which old grump has had one longest and paid 2-/6d for it!
I suppose you got in too late to buy new at renewal prices? This is the first time i've been a season ticket holder as well. I guess it'll feel different when you don't get caught in the mad rush to get tickets when we play United.
As it's a new experience for you CF, perhaps you can report when the first feelings and signs of superior fan come over you.
I paid 2/6, well dad did, at my first ever game. 12 and a 1/2p can you believe it, it's a disgrace what they charge blah blah blah....
Not sure what years they were exactly, but we had terrace season tickets under the West stand at the Dell for a couple of seasons.
Footballs gotten popular now. I think the whole problem started when they got rid of the hooligans...
Well, I can do without the hooligans! So who would be the oldest season-holder on here, I wonder. I bet Beddy knows.. Or St Godders might have an inkling.....
I had my first season ticket for 30 years last season. Fabulous timing, with FLT junior too. My original season ticket ws in the family centre above the Milton Road End; it was £10 plus 50p each game for the old first division. This was probably 1982 or 1983.
I don't know about that but at the Coventry game I was sat next to a lady who was there for her 80th birthday. No, she didn't run on the pitch.
It is the very lovely Mrs Godders as she is a little older than me by a matter of months but then I would not dare reveal a lady's age. She has already ordered a new away shirt and no guesses for whose name will be printed on the back. Dam that Frenchman. He has really cramped my style. Getting it up at my age is hard enough but when you have to speak in a french accent at the same time it takes a hell of a lot of concentration. I spoke to my Doctor about it and he refuses to give me any Viagra. I told him I was quite worried about my sexual performance as the first time I made love I always felt very cold and then the second time I always felt very hot. He looked very worried about that until the very lovely Mrs Godders told him that was because the first time was at Christmas and the second time was on her birthday in July.
At my age young man you are very lucky I can still remember the punch line! Just a little bit advice for all you young lads who might be thinking of getting married. Take a good look at you future mother in-in-law and ask yourself "could I sleep with this woman?". If the answer is no then don't get married for as sure as eggs is eggs you fiance will end up looking like her mother in about 25 years time.
My first recollection of paying for a ticket was 1 shilling and 3 pence 6.5 pence in today's money. I have no idea the year probably around 1954/5. However that could have been a junior rate and probably would have been a cup game. The reason being for most games my family would have got the tickets, and it was rare for me to go to a game on my tod.
