If he's off expect a 10M fee - how much did Viera sell for when you waited a year? The price won't be good. I think Giroud is the replacement. Interesting how the reaction to his signing would differ if it had been announced after RVP's decision - fans would go from saying 'Giroud's not enough' to 'Giroud is a great buy who could replace RVP, who the hell even is RVP he's rubbish and old'. Remember though, no player is bigger than the club.
I hope we're taking one (or both) of the two you mentioned... I read today that Dembele had the highest dribbles to successful beating of tackler percentage in the league - an astonishing 86% I believe. Completely agree with you about RVP and about Liverpool!
Rumours of a £22m deal to City and wages of £225k a week - deal been in place for some weeks allegedly....
Personally i would never boo a player in an Arsenal shirt but if someone buys a ticket it is their right to boo a player as it's your right to cheer a player when you buy a ticket.if RVP is still an Arsenal player next season he will have my 100% support.
£22 million is a bit much isn't it? Considering Juve only offered £8000000 then surely 15 mil would get the job done.
It's extraordinary to think that a number of fans have turned against RvP and some even suggesting that he should not speak his mind. Lest we forget we would not have been in the Europa League next season let alone the Champions League were it not for RvP's goals. Let us not forget too how we have been disappointed over these past seven years, a period during which time RvP himself could have walked but didn't. At his age this is his final opportunity of winning something and if anyone thinks that simply buying Podolski and Giroud would be enough I venture to suggest that there are gaps in our side that still need to be addressed. Look at our midfield and indeed our defence, if not in respect of players then of tactics. We let in 49 goals last season and I don't see changes to address this which means that the pressure once again will be on the strike force. Anyone can tell you that titles are not won solely by the men in front but yet again we have not addressed this. And of RvP, if we do not keep players like him then we risk losing the the right to call ourselves a big club anymore since big clubs win and keep their key players. As fans we have shouldered our disappointment for years so why not RvP? He's approaching 30 and with one final chance to win. I say let him take it. I would of course rather he did it with us but the choice on this is his. Ask yourselves one question. If you were in his shoes, what would you do? Wenger, our board and owner have sold us out. They're the ones we should be gunning for, not RvP.
I don't get the hate directed toward RVP at all. The only reason they were loyal to him were because he was obviously a very good player. How much loyalty did they show the 30 year olds, offering them 1 year contracts ? How much did they show Chamakh or Park ? Bottom line is the club would get rid just as quickly if the players did not show promise which is totally expected, this is a results driven game. RVP can't see us getting results so he wants to leave, fair play. We have been fed a load of bollox from the club for the last few years, I don't think it is the realms of belief to think RVP sees through the bull. He had more then one good season, he was good the season before that as well.
Good point Hothead. Where was all the hate for Clichy when he left? I don't recall much on this forum at all. The main reason being, everyone thought he was no good anymore and welcomed the money from Man City. RVP comes out with a valid reason and everyone is showing so much hate it's unreal. So it's ok for the fans to think Clichy was no good for Arsenal but when RVP says Arsenal are not good enough for him, the hared comes out? Disappointing.
Depends, anything over 20 million and we should sell, anything under that and it won't be worth it. Also, we have to try and get him to an overseas club, him signing for United or City would be a massive kick in the nuts for us, and would **** us up for future title races
Epic 'journalism' from the Sun yet again. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...Robin-van-Persie-plots-Man-City-transfer.html Quoting from a fake Mario Balotelli twitter account.
if rvp does go to man city how would people like £10mil + edin dzeko. I really liked him at wolfsburg and think hes been mistreated at man city.
Wouldn't mind at all but wages would be the issue isn't he on 150k+ no way we will pay that. If a swap deal aim for real and Benz or hig or Dortmound and gotze ( might as well dream). If he does leave really wish it isn't for a epl team but the prob is bar PSG (he won't go) no one will pay big money for him outside of epl.
Are you kidding? I would love that... but it's not happening. Depending on how many years Dzeko has in his contract his market value right now might be much higher than RVP's.
I personally don't hold all responsibility on RVP and he was a great servant to us, however keeping him for another season when he has already made up his mind that he wants to go is a foolish idea. Although it pains me to say it I think we should look at selling him now . I blame Wenger and Gazidis for another mistake, by the sounds of it RVP was looking for them to show ambition to win things however they gave the building on youth excuse. RVP is 29 he cant wait for the next batch of youth to develop so he can win trophies. This is becoming a running issue and a number of players who have left have cited lack of ambition so you cant just say he's going for more money. We cant just blame our players for leaving when there clearly is a fundamental issue with the boards goals. The fact that they save a large some of money in case they don't get into the champions league to me shows a lack of ambition when that money could be used to invest in the team and almost certainly guarantee us staying in the Champions league. Bring in Usmanov and get rid of the rest of the jokers on the board!
Gutted RVP wants to leave but understand why he would. What annoys me is the manner he's gone about it. He could easily have said to the board "I'm categorically not resigning" and they could then have decided to get the most money they could for him. Afterwards he could have explained the reasons why he thinks the board are a bunch o' c***s (and I agree) but he'd not have cost us 10-15million. Sadly I think he's burned his bridges with us as I don't want any player who doesn't want to be here playing for us, especially when he was our captain. Get the best offer we can from him and send him on his way. Thanks for the 18-24 or so months of fantastic football we've had over the last 8 years Robin. Good luck with the future..
C'mon, don't be so naive. Looking for them to show ambition? Do you think he really expected them to change the club strategy and policy? All these "negotiations" were a smokescreen with only one goal - to engineer a quick transfer.
