http://blogs.channel4.com/alex-thomsons-view/momentous-day-scottish-football/2153 Rangers are out of the SPL and look likely to end up in Division 3 if they don't get 16 out of 30 votes to let them into D1. What do others think of the goings on? I personally think that any club that goes into administration should be more harshly punished and liquidation should definitely deserves a hasher punisment.
My glasweigen housemate and i are loving this... serves them right for being a bunch of crooks for so many years, and is a blatent example of how mismanaging your club for short term gains is foolish to say the least... lets hope they end up in d3...
They should be demoted to the 3rd Division but the Dunfermline Chairman said they were being blackmailed by the SPL into accepting them into the First Division. If they do not do this the SPL say they will set up an SPL2 to include Rangers and others.
it was not the fans who were crooks, but the directors who were corrupt. i feel for the fans as if shrews were unlucky to be involved and to be dumped in the screwfix midland league i trust other fans might feel for us.i hope rangers play in league 1 for the fans sake. league 3 would provide a health and safety issue with rangers travelling away fans being too many for some of the away grounds. we can all blast on about punishing rangers, just for 5 minutes put yourselves in a rangers fans shoes and think on.
The argument similarly applies that the fans have been enjoying the success brought about by Rangers corrupt dealings. As regards coping with Rangers fans in the lower leagues, they have been drawn time and time again against lower league clubs in the cups and the powers that be have always managed to cope.Indeed, if they play Queens Park they will have considerably more tickets available to them than when they play Dundee United for example.
As far as I have heard, the trouble with putting Rangers into division three is that it would punish other clubs. Not sure exactly how that works, as it would also benefit the clubs against whom Rangers would play in the third/second divisions by virtue of ticket money and TV rights - it would even out the playing field in Scottish football, basically, with the rich becoming poorer and the poor becoming richer. I may be wrong though. I just think it's a good precedent.
It also means that the place after Celtic's auto win place will allow another club entry to Europe football and all the dosh.
A number of Division One clubs have come out and said they'll not be voting for them to go into that league (though Stenhousemuir have gone public with their decision to vote 'yes'), and I can't see the chairmen of sides in Divisions Two and Three wanting to miss out on games against the 'NewCo' in the next couple of years.
I'm fairly sure Scotland are losing their second Champions League spot this season or next, because of their 'co-efficient' (and unless Celtic and Motherwell play each other in the final next year I can't see that changing )
Wish the FA would have the balls to scrap the football creditors rule. We could ship out the high wage players that our ****** of an ex CEO decided to bring in. P.S Welcome to league 1. Where the fans are proper and football isn't all that great.
with the squad assembled by the shrews, sky espn, channel 5 will be queuing up to screen league 1 matches, well when the super shrews are playing. leeds can you hear us?
