FIFA have released the latest rankings after the recent tournament, well our boys have jumped up to number 4 in the world, I will state this again ENGLAND ARE RANKED NUMBER 4 IN THE WORLD, Italy went up to 6th while a little south American country called Brazil are languishing in 11th. Who would have thought !
I believe FIFA is a total joke, and ranking us as 4th in the world does nothing to change my views on the matter..
England 4th wtf! I would of thought Spain Germany Uruguay Brazil Italy Argentina Portugal Holland France Would all be ahead of us
When u look at our results we are rarely beaten. Win the vast majority of our games mainly because we never play the top teams. We have beaten Spain. So I'm guessing that's what it goes on.

Well let's wait and see what happens before 2014 world cup see what are rankings are then and if we are seeded if that is what happens
We are top 8 in Europe but below 10th in the World when Brazil and Argentina (both would beat us right now imo) are brought into the equation. FIFA and UEFA are both a huge steaming pile of ****e as well btw.
Completely agree - a ranking of 10th or 11th would be much more reflective of where we are in reality. We would generally expect to be in the last 16 at the world cup but nobody would really expect us to make the last 4. It just goes to show how much statistics can be manipulated!
i remember reading how they were calculated once and it made sense the things they take into account. They assess the quality of the opposition and also they grade things based on how long ago a match was and I think they take friendlies into account also. England have won a lot of games recently, we did very well in qualifying then we didn't lose in 90, or 120 minutes at the EC. We also did all this in the strongest international region, Europe. We actually score points for losing on penalties, and rightly so, when compared to a team getting hammered 5 nil in 90 minutes. Also another thing to bear in mind is that a list like that is not evenly stepped. You could have a difference of one point between any given two places and hundred between any other given two places yet the list is presented as an even stepped list. England could actually be in fourth by the skin of their teeth, just a few points ahead of tenth, while third could be many points further up.
