England won their group, but they didn't play any better than any of the teams in that group. They were pish and almost 90% of the England fans know that.
As the rankings are based on points scored over a finite length of time, a team can either gain or lose ranking points. So a team could legitimately move up the rankings without playing if a team above them loses points in the meantime. It should be noted that the FIFA ranking system is dependant on the defintion of time as a nonspatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future. This concept however still does not explain the paradox of Scotland rising in the rankings depsite being utter ****e.
These FIFA rankings are pish. Norn Iron are 102nd, 4 places below Togo FFS. There's no way we're that good. Oh and they moved UP a place after Holland tanked them 6-0!
I don't think England are amazing, but I also think there are only about 4 or 5 teams in the world you could say are. Whatever Boab may think how good you are isn't judged by how often you can pass the ball while conceding 2 and not scoring any, it's about getting results, and England didn't lose a single game in normal time at the Euro's. Brazil, Uruguay, Spain, Italy and Germany are all definitely better than England, there's really not much to choose between a few teams below that. As I constantly say and no-one seems to bother noticing, people always exaggerate England's problems while ignoring those of other countries, to the point of always stating that every single other major nation is better when, right now at least, that just isn't true.
Just a change of conversation, a very nice picture of a Leeds fan, https://twitter.com/ninaevans7/status/220214631069794305/photo/1
England are a very poor team, outclassed by France at Wembley in November 2010 and again at the Euros.
And yet managed to finish above them in the group... There are a few teams better than England on the ball, but at the same time in terms of organisation and commitment we completely outclass the likes of France and Holland.
Bolton Wanderers have made a bid for Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan, according to reports. The 28-year-old joined Leeds last summer from Preston North End and he made over 30 appearances for the Whites. However, Neil Warnock - who arrived late in the season - has a deal lined up for Queens Park Rangers' Paddy Kenny, which means Lonergan will be surplus to requirements. Bolton boss Owen Coyle has been monitoring his situation and has now made a move as he looks to provide competition for Adam Bogdan, following Jussi Jaaskelainen's departure from the club. Warnock has admitted that a number of his fringe players have been the subject of recent enquiries. "There's been some enquiries for a number of players," he told the club's website. "I'm not surprised really. I think they all could do other clubs a job, but it's just that we're trying to change things and there's always one or casualties. "It's no disrespect to them because you want to bring players in. We've had a couple of offers."
A potential step up for Lonners, but a potentially big loss for us. Good luck to the lad if its true.
Nothing seems to matter with in and out rumours while the takeover is in limbo, I know it does matter but I couldn't care about anything apart from the new owners making an announcement and injecting the cash, not to mention the work I am not getting done.
I'd take Paddy over Lonners. Another leader at the back, plus last time he played in the Championship got voted in the team of the season Wish Lonners all the best though and hope he gets a warm welcome when returning & if moving to Bolton makes his life and his daughters life that little bit easier then fair play to him.
