This ^ He played very well indeed when he was on the pitch as he was towards the end of last season. I'm quite excited about what he'll do this coming season, especially with the Higgs Boson behind him.
Totally agree that Carroll can do the tidy stuff. people seem to have a blinkered image of Andy (portrayed by the media) that he is 'just a donkey' and it simply isn't try. He isn't a Torres or Drogba but he can hold his own...
He is to me. They are similar in that they are strong, can hold the ball up, bring others into play and are able to finish with their head or feet, but Drogba was able to turn with the ball and take on a man or two, he was able to change a game without too much help from others, I don't see Carroll ever doing that. Carroll is more in line with a Alan Shearer (obvious and common link alert), can't say I'd grumble at an Alan Shearer though
peter crouch worked very very hard at making himself look like a wonderful player with amazing touch... ie he ran away from goal and chested it down etc... the reality was he couldn't get off the ground and win headers despite his height. on the other hand carroll has just as good a touch and is far stronger if not as tall. he is far harder to mark as john terry will tell you when he's on form.... he needs to be more lethal in front of goal and thats just it.... if he scores 1 in 2 not 1 in 4 then there you go... he's suddenly world class according to some.
Again, I can't ever see that happening but I suppose it depends on your definition of world class. I personally see it as a player that would make a world eleven/squad. I don't see Carroll getting to those heights...
Another awful talkshite interview. The prick that was asking the questions seems to think we struggled defensively last season even though the only two teams that conceeded less were Man City and United.
It is looking like a step to far for Rodgers looking at the type of players he is after. they are the players he would have got for a team like ours just to try and survive in the premiership. no big names just lower premiership players no better than what you have got already......will he do good or will he flop, one thing is for certain he will not get anywhere near top 6 this season ......not with his targets....
The players he already has finished higher in the league than Swansea, scored more league goals than Swansea and conceded less than Swansea, they also won 1 trophy and came runners up in another. So he's already better off than he was last season playerwise.
If we play like we did last season or even slightly better (certainly better with respect to finishing) then we'll finish a lot closer to the top 4, if not in it. That'll be our aim and it should be attainable with hard work and a good team spirit. Good luck to BR and I can't wait for the new season to start as I'm, getting football withdrawal symptoms!
Nah, a big man won't work with tiki taka or pass and move.
Even Milan rate Carroll, even if it is the s*n: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...triker-wanted-by-AC-Milans-transfer-guru.html
Come on you know not to link to that site even with your disclaimer. With regards Carroll though glad some others think he actually keeps hold of the ball really well now that he's fit. The Llorente example was a great one too. Mario Gomez is another good example. With Carroll i think Gomez would be an ideal role model for him and our team, as Carroll needs to work on his attacking movement, and our team needs to give him the ball in the right way and in the right areas. Gomez barely touched the ball against the dutch and yet scored 2 goals, both of which Carroll isn't incapable of scoring. Also has anyone watched the video with Swansea's ex-(and now ours)match analyst (of whatever role he has)? Show them planning a corner when they were in the Championship in a much more considered way than any of ours have been this season. Carroll could be extremely useful both a as a goal threat and diversion!
