When you think about it, does what happened with Carroll, what's happening with Jose, maybe Barton and whoever else not make you appreciate Shola that little bit more?

Deserves more credit than he gets, just wish he was a better player! And a little less injury-prone... <laugh>

EDIT: Oh, and it's nice to see that he doesn't get done for GBH or wife-beating. Ameobi has my respect!

yea but isn't one of the reasons he's been here so long because we couldn't offload him in the past even if we wanted to? not in same class as carroll, enrique, barton....

It's funny that after all the stuff we've been through, theres been one constant nobody has really noticed. Shola Ameobi. He's been in both the Champions League and the Championship with us, seen 2 different owners, 9 different managers, 4 or 5 different captains, 3 different number nines and has probably played alongside at least 20 different strike partners. We take him for granted, although he is fairly average I'll be devastated when he finally leaves (which will probably be when he eventually retires).

He almost went to Ipswich but failed the medical.

I think it was on purpose.
