ummm...didn't hear any of your lot screaming for Adebayor to be sent back to City last season? He was afterall subsidised by oil money. Where would you have finished without the goals bought for you by wealthy Arab gentlemen?
Whats Podolski doing there ?? The other 2 fair enough but come on, Podolski ? Anyway Gervinho just has a stupid hairstyle, he's not ugly (no homo), Sagna has a stupid hairstyle too .. but have you seen his missus ??? please log in to view this image
I'm convinced Spurs fans live on a different planet to the rest of us. They can't be THAT delusional - Surely?
I said "no homo" .. thats my disclaimer No Homo explanation here for those who don't know it:
Back in the 1920's it was Huddersfield (I think)that had the money and won trophies, 1930's Arsenal were the richest club and won all in sight, in the 1950's it was United, Blackpool and bolton. In the early 60's spurs were there. The 70's and 80's found Liverpool in that position. But because the league wasn't ruled by TV money and CL money like now more clubs could win the league and the cups. In the prem era (20 years) Man City, Blackburn, Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea have won the league. (5 in total) ... in the last 18 years since Blackburn won it only 4 teams have won it. In this 20 years only 6 teams have won the FA Cup... The Double was done by Arsenal twice, United Twice and Chelsea. In the 20 years prior (72-92) Leeds, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Forest, Villa and Derby the league. (7 in total) In this period the FA Cup was won by 10 teams ... The double was done by Liverpool In the 20 years prior (1952-71) Arsenal, Everton, City, United, Livepool, Ipswich, Spurs, Burnley, Wolves and Chelsea won the League (10 in total) In this period the FA Cup was won by more than 10 and the double was done by spurs and arsenal. I think that in the premier league years the gaps between the clubs has widened beyond all belief leaving very few with any hope of winning a trophy and coming in the top 4 as the above shows. The CL places was a big step along the way to the financial inequality that exists in football and mega rich owners is another step in this direction. Wimbledon, Southampton, Forest, Villa, West Ham, Ipswich, Derby, Norwich, Oxford and Sunderland all won trophies in the 20 years before the premier league...along with United, Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs (Considered the big 5 in the 80's) Only Pompey, Bolton, Spurs, Liverpool, Middlesborough and Everton have won any trophies in the Prem era apart from Chelsea, United, City, Blackburn & Arsenal It would be fantastic for spurs if we were taken over by some one with more money than than sense who can buy great players and get us to win everything in sight...but I think it will be another nail in the coffin of football. Sorry its so rambly but seemed the place to mention it.
I think it would be very simplistic to say that teams were succesful because they were the richest before the premiership started
You just have to look at French football for the past how many years to see that isn't the case. Have a butchers at Germany and Holland too while you are at it.
You complain of financial doping by city yet that is exactly what the CL has been for years. It has been good for arsenal but bad for football imo. I loved spurs being in it and it was still bad for football when we were in it. I am a spurs fan...I used to be able to afford to go to see them as a kid in the 80's ... last season I got to go to just 5 matches and could only take my kids to 2 of them cos of the cost. That situation is bad for football in my opinion...normal real fans are being priced out and only a few clubs have a hope in hell of winning a trophy and the rest just fight to stay in the prem... Spurs being bought my some mega rich guy and winning trophies would be good for spurs fans (like it's been for chelsea and city fans) but it would be bad for football. That was all I was saying.
are you new to 606 ? look at my sig and what smurf said earlier today about the appointment of the fabulous manager AVB
Good God, look up mixed when you have a moment. I didn't say I'd be depressed about the money, but any success bought with it would be less enjoyable (NOT unenjoyable) if attained that way.
I amazed with Arsenal fans taking the moral high ground when it comes to money. How many are forever posting that Usmanov should be spending his billions on AFC
i never said you did.I was just making a point being people are taking the piss out of the spuds over their Arab money Calm down Park
