Yes, that's where I first picked it up, so thanks for posting it. I tweeted it and posted it on pompeyonline and it was very well received on both. We both know there are some people on TBA who will moan and argue just for the sake of it - actually, a bit like most forums, I suppose
I like the attitude MAJR. IMO if that got published in the NEWS or PST the general consensus would be that the poem/song was very moving. P.S Nice to see you on here Mikeysad. I'm Ravo on truebluearmy.
To be honest, there has been more of a response to this Poem than I imagined I'd get when I posted it. Surprises me somewhat.
Welcome to you too OldSpice! Two new members in one day, we are blessed. Are there any more that want to join, do you or Mikeysad know any good eggs?
Don't be offended Majr, the person responsible for that comment is known for his negativity and rude comments and always tries to oppose popular opinion. Just ignore and take notice of the majority.
I recieved an email around midday from Scott McLachlan, spokesman of the Supporters Trust asking if the Trust could put my poem on their website and maybe get it printed in the News. Amazing how things kick off isn't it?
Yes, that did make me smile when I read it, but I am just too polite to have drawn attention to it myself.
Ha I edited it, but clearly not in time. And yeah it was just a typo although Freud may have some words to say. If he wasn't long gone. P.S Fratton may be a dump but its our dump and I wouldn't change it for any of the modern ikea domes knocking around today.
Well it's on Newsnow now, so up for a bigger audience. I'd be surprised if The News didn't publish it also. Well worth the publicity
The Trust have put the Poem on their website today. link: http://www.pompeytrust.com/index.ph...nd-messages-of-support&catid=34:demo-category
With the royalties you get MAJR, you will soon be in a position to buy PFC. Well done, and well deserved
Very poignant words, I can understand the sentiments, as I and my fellow Saints went through the same emotions three short years ago. I love the melody that you have chosen and it is one of my favourite anti-war songs.....Here is the best version, in my humble opinion, the sense of injustice at the futility in the singer's voice gets me every time.... Is it odd that the only negative reviews I have recieved for this peom have come from a couple of Portsmouth fans? I mean, not even a single WUM so far, that's just not natural! Even the Southampton Fans commenting are being nice about it!
Well we Pompey are known for being different and not giving a fook. Don't take it personally. It almost brought me to tears after reading it. I now think a statue of the great man in needed on top of Portsdown hill so he can watch over us.
I'm too young to have had the privilege of seing Gentleman Jim play, but I managed to dig this brief piece of footage up on youtube
