James Masters ‏@Masters_JamesD Hull, Forest, Leicester and Brighton all interested in signing Nicky Shorey on free transfer. #hcfc #lcfc #bhafc #nffc He's a freelance journalist, he's got a few deals right in the past, though this one's obviously a bit vague. I hope it's true, I'm a big fan of Shorey's.
I thought we had decent cover at left back with Dawson and Dudgeon. Would rather see the money spent on another good striker.
Shorey would be an excellent addition, although I`m slightly worried that we would then have 3 left backs and just one recognised right back (given that when asked about McShane in his initial interview Stevie boy couldn`t remember him !!!)
Dawson, dudgeon and Connor Townsend. Think I'd rather us sign one goalie before we get a fourth left back.
Seems strange when we already have Daws and Dudgeon. He would want fairly big wages I reckon and I think we need to concentrate in other areas first.
We have a lack of wingers - if we're in for Shorey, perhaps Bruce is thinking of employing Dudgeon as an option? Just a thought.
I think this is BS. Even if we have shown interest, if Leicester are, as usual, throwing their wad around the will get him, and lets face it with Kochevski they deffo need him.
No, you said we should concentrate on a striker, I was less specific in the position we should focus on, using the word 'areas' to emphasise I was referring to more than one position.
If we were to sign the suggested '4 or 5' players and two of them are Shorey and Tunicliffe. That leaves '2 or 3' new players to come in and for the positions we actually need, surely we're going to be massively short in some areas if we only sign 5 players and 2 of them are in positions we alreayd have covered? I think we'll need 6 signings on top of these two.
Has Dawson actually signed his extension yet? I know the HDM reported it was going to be approved by Bruce, but according to the HDM about 3 days before he took the job Steve Bruce had nothing to do with us and had never even been considered for the job.
I'm not a fan of Dawson I think he is past his used by date but Nick Shorey has been slipping down the quality scale for the past 2 seasons so I can't see the point of wasting valuable funds on him as a left back if Dawson is to stay. At present we need funds for other positions and left back can be reviewed in January.
