This. I hold no animosity towards Ringo, it just didn't work out for him that's all in his second stint here. No-ones fault it just happens that way sometimes. Its a huge wage bill off the books and will free some cash for new players.

I hope the lad gets a decent welcome at the SOL personally.

Ringo was a fantastic player for us first time round but I don't think he was that keen on coming second time and TBH I felt for the lad and hope he is now smiling.

Thank the lord. 45k off the wage bill.

Think we re signed him for 6m, add the ridiculous wages. Could it be the worst signing in Safc history?

Oh yes, he only cost us around 3m though. And we still receive payment for work he gets as a Gary Coleman lookalike.

    Whatchu talkin bout Cest

Agree - I was pleased when we got him back but he never really looked up for it. I remember some stories at the time about him having to leave London because his wife couldn't settle - no idea whether they were true or not but it was prettty clear that George would have much rather stayed where he was.

    Lol.

Nunez is the worst EVER signing for appearances, impact and complete joke factor. He came with the Tyson nickname but looked more like an Umpalumpa than a footballer. We may as well have just took £3m outside the SOL and set fire to it, as at least for a brief moment it burned, the money would have been warming those around it. Nunez was just fee & wages chucked away.

Should never have returned and we should never have bought him simple as that, hope he has a better time of it second time around at West Ham unfortunately I think it'll pan out the same as with us.

Not going to disagree re Nunez - I remember him being paraded around the pitch after we had signed him and the reaction all around me was "what the hell is that"!!

Running him a close second has to be the Argentinian lad we signed with Julio, whose name escapes me - £3m for what was going to be the next big thing and I think he played one Carling Cup game. Word at the time was that we only signed him to keep Julio company - hell of an expensive babysitter!!

Worst signing in SAFC history has to be Gareth Hall and, that was before the days of Youtube and Facebook so the scouts had to go and watch him play before giving him the nod.

Gareth Hall was utter pap but at leasat he actually played (well put a shirt on and turned up) but Nunez didnt start a game. He was just a total joke.

Quick story about Gareth Hall - I was at Bury in our promotion season under Reid and he was the only player I have ever seen booed by his own fans, warming up to come on as a sub. I actually felt crap for the lad that day. Lol

Gareth Hall was terrible. First time I took the wife to a Sunderland game was against Citeh in the early 90s at Roker Park. 1-0 up until GH went on a wrong-way dribble, got robbed, and they got the equalizer. 1-1 draw on a freezing November Saturday and I was cursing him all weekend...
