A great servant to the club who chipped in with a couple of assists early season which helped secure some of our first points. I think a lot of the reaction to him leaving is very harsh on a player who, as has been said, has always given his all for the club.

So you'd say people screaming "YEEEEEEEESSSS!!!" in reaction to him leaving isn't disrespectful? We've clearly got different standards,

I agree with Scott on this one.

Whilst most postings were of a generous, well wishing nature, there were others of a facetious, disrespectul tone, and there is no call for that.

Perhaps those who found him wanting could just wish him well, and leave it at that.

If he does leave then I hope he finds good fortune in the years to come.

Think some respect should be shown here, the guy is no Leon Knight who caused problems, Gower has been nothing but a professional football player who served our club well.

I think Monk also may move as I feel his age is catching up with him and we need better in that position. I feel that nobody will be shouting yessss he's going now!

I wish Gower all the best and hope he finds a good club that he can show he has something yet to contribute.

Gower certainly gets reactions from either end of the spectrum. Yes he`s had good games, he`s also had bad games, you can argue whether he`s had more good than bad and vice versa.

He`s been a part of our progression & a good servant to this club, he has had some really good games and some howlers. I wish him the best for his future, but also I`m glad that he`s going, it will free up wages for someone who will take us further.

Thank You Scott for realising that , when you were making the comment about being disrespectfull were you talking as a Mod or as a boardmember, because you should realise your position when criticising someone.

Vetch I don't like getting into this sort of thing but are we not getting a little bit too sanctimonius ?

I wasn't aware I had to alter my opinions because I'm a mod, and I wasn't aware that I was criticising anyone. I stand by my comments. I think, and I'm not aiming this at you in particular, it's more in response to what I see as a general lack of respect that's been shown to the guy on here in the last 6 months or so.

Well then Scott your '' we've clearly got different standards comment '' to DPJ needs revisiting, it smacks of condescension, in my humble opinion . Further you don't have to alter your opinions one iota , however, as a Mod I believe you should be aware of the weight of your comments carry as people look to you to be an arbiter of decency and taste. ( again in my humble opinion ). Cheers and for what it's worth I for one think you and JA are doing an excellent job in what is a thankless task.

ffs,I've just re-read my post, and if making a comment, and having an opinion, makes me "sanctimonious" in your eyes, well,I can live with that.

You clearly have a low opinion of Gower, and of course, you are fully entitled to have it.

Gower has been an integral part of the success of Swansea City F.C. in recent years. Perhaps our ascendency has gone to your head somewhat, and now you feel like putting the boot into him. That's a real shame,he deserves better.

But back to the sanctimony claim.

My dictionary tells me that to be "sanctimonious" is to pretend to be very religious.

Since I abhorr EVERYTHING to do with ALL religions,I must hotly dispute that assertion of yours.

Never my favourite player but he served us well, did his job to the best of his ability ( no one can do more) and is part of our history. Sincere good wishes to him for the future.

What always bothered me with Gower was that he is so infuriating - probably THE most infuriating player we have. Capable of real brilliance one second (yes really!) then is abject in the next. Absolutely no consistency. If we are to kick on to the next level he is the kind of player we can do without. That doesn't mean to say we can't acknowledge his contribution over the years.

I'm all for showing players who wear out shirt some respect. In fact I've had cross words with musty on this in the past. But saying "Yeeessssss!" isn't particularly disrespectful imo, it's just a reflection of some in their belief that he just isn't good enough for us any more, improves the wage bill situation and opens up a space for an exciting new signing.

It's a forum and we're entitled to say if we don't like a player.
