I think our performance and result against this better than given credit for Italian team (better than i gave them credit for anyway) shows we were better than we were given credit for and Roy Hodgson's tactics were spot on.

But for another penalty shoot out nightmare, we could have beaten the Italians and played the Germans and who is to say another Hodgson tactical plan wouldn't have worked and beaten them?

I cant wait to see how Hodgson forms his teams and plans over the next 2 years and feel excited we have a manager capable of steadying the good ship England.

I was thinking exactly this with about 10 minutes to go.

We let Pirlo run the show, but he didnt really hurt us, yes Ballotelli broke the offside trap a couple of times, but luckily we defended it. 0-0 was a very credible result against the Italians on tonight's showing.

Young/Milner/Rooney were still ****e mind. (even if they didnt like to play in the system that roy devised, they were still not very good)

Maybe Roy is not the old duffer some people think he is.

Germany and Portugal had two extra days rest, didn't show though. Back to the first law of coaching - the team that wants it will give more.

Hodgson will be good for England. Much better than saggy chops. But the FA have to let him run it, and keep their fingers out, and let him **** off Gerrard, Lampard, Terry etc.

England need to do a Germany basically. Import foreigners :p

Problem is the likes of Germany, Spain, Italy 'et al' will still be better 2 years down the line. So we continue with 'the hope'.

I'm hoping that Italy can go on to win it now. Based on both of the semi-final results, I reckon they deserve it more than Spain, uncharacteristically for Italy they've played exciting football. Not that that counts for anything though!

They outfought and outran a team who had a plan that the Italians ruined by scoring first.

Would it be legal for the eleven men to lie on top or each other in the goalmouth and block the goal? If it is I hope Roy doesn't find it out!!

The final should be a good show, abeit spoilt by Spain :)
