Oh for the start of the season. Yeah, if we are going name a team for that, then Jack might not be ready.

The main problem you have,as always,is that your players are weak. Not just physically but also mentally. That's why you win nothing.

    Pod-----RVP-----Walcott
    -------Rosicky--------
    Song------------Arteta
    Santos-Verm--Kos--Jenkinson

At the moment, this is the team that will likely play, depending on injuries and senior/playing order. Sagna and Wilshere will be out in the beginning of the season. I expect Rosicky back, as it's a minor injury. Giroud won't come in straight away, as Wenger will retain the usual RVP in the centre and Walcott on the right. The Pod will come in straight away on the left and Jenkinson may cover for Sagna, as he's the only specialist RB we have. Wenger may decide to play Coqs at RB if he impresses during pre-season, or Djourou, but this would be the last resort....

Team i would take if all are fit.

    Pod-------Giroud------RVP
    ---------Wilshere-------
    ---Song-------Arteta-----
    Santos-Mertz--Kos--Sagna

I would like to play Mertz and Kos/Verm (Kos on better form) together. It would give our defence a better balance as Mertz offers height (set pieces) and better positonal sense, the other two can use their pace to cover. Also i'd like to see Giroud in the centre, taking all the physical stuff and bring RVP and Pod into the attack. Also i would give RVP a freer role to roam from left, to centre, to deep central. This can be used as a plan B.

How anyone could say play Mert infront of Verm is beyond me! at first i thought it was a joke, but the rest of your post seems genuine.. and no walcott??

    I expect it will be...

    -------------------Scezney--------------------
    Sagna----Merts--------Vermaelen----Santos
    -------------Song----------Arteta-------------
    ---------------Wilshere/Rosicky----------------
    Walcott----------Vanpersie----------Podolski

BUT IT COULD END UP BEING....

    -------------------Szcezney--------------------
    Sagna----Merts--------Vermaelen----Santos
    -------------Song----------M'Vila-------------
    ---------------Wilshere/Rosicky----------------
    --Vanpersie--------Giroud--------Podolski---

That midfield is soo solid we may end up with Three strikers on the pitch.

Mertz is also first choice remember. Vermaelen didn't exactly light last season on fire did he, it was Kos that performed consistently throughout the season. For me, our CBs are not nailed on, we have yet to find the right combination, and i think we need to try Mertz and Kos or Mertz and Verm. Conceding 49 goals in the premiership this season is terrible. We are talking more than a goal a game conceded!!!!

As for Walcott, i did have him in the most likely first 11. However, if we intend to play/bring Giroud on, Walcott will be the man to be sacrificed. If Giroud is playing in the centre, then RVP will naturally be moved to the right and as long as the Pod is playing fine, then he would stay on.

Your right TheBear that team would be mega solid and you could easily switch players around to suit different games. For Example for supposed easier home games i'd put Arteta instead of Song and maybe switch RVP with Giroud so Walcott can play.

Only weakness with that team would be the Wilshere/Rosicky posistion as i dont rate Rosicky at all these days as he doesnt score or provide many killer balls now.

Also i'd swap Kosielney with Vermaelen as i think he is way better but the pressence of Big Mert might be a steady influence on Verm.

We are getting together a well tasty team. Are we getting back to 2008 sort of strength now? The only thing missing is our previous super midfielder Fabs. Can Wilshere step up? Will we get someone else in or can we create enough with our existing mdfield? Personally, with Wilshere, Rosicky, Arteta, Song, M'Villa (if we buy him) and Ramsey (should be better next season), should be enough enough depth to take us forward, but i wouldn't say no to a new AM.

Good news on the Wilshere front - seems he will be ready to take part in pre-season!

None of your teams make me feel happy I bought a ticket for the first game of the season :(

Take out Song, put Walcott up front and change the formation from a 4-3-3 to something that makes use of the players we have - instead of trying to copy Barcelona - then I'll be happy :)
