I serioiusly think so. I casually support england but not really with much fervour especially compared to arsenal which may contribute to my feeling but the quality of football i've seen in the euros displays a serious discrepancy in quality between the two. Obviously the fact that the teams do not have as much time to gel contributes to this but there seems to be a general lack of excitement and the build up to the club season finale exceeds that of the euros or world cup by some margin.
I prefer internationals. Its decided by skill and talent and not by who has the richest owner or the most plastic fans in asia. And its a purer form of football generally. As the tactics are generally less gelled so it just comes down to who can play. And not who just fits into some rigid system (rooney)
i would disagree with you there mate. I've been living in london for the past 8 years but i'm orignally from asia and can guarantee you majority of asian fans are supporting one of spain or germany for this tournament and will readily switch allegiances when at the demise of one. With regards to skill i would say club football exceeds the skill involved in internationals.
I mean manchester united vs wolves is never going to be a fair match due to all the fans man united have in asia and other parts of the world. I dont see the attraction of such mismatches. Same with city. They win because they have a billionaire owner. Is that really a competition? Sport is best when money is at least somewhat removed I think. That isnt the case in club football and is why I enjoy the champions league latter stages so much because at least alot of the clubs are on a par then. Although even then you have mismtaches like napoli vs chelsea in terms of expenditure.
you're confining international matches to the euros and world cup. International matches also constitute qualifiers and friendlies which also involve emphatic scorelines. With regard to finance argument it may also be extended to countries but that doesn't necessarily result in a mis-match. Developed coutnries such as the UK and Spain have far more resources to invest in football facilities and training but still struggle to impose themselves upon countries like argentina and brazil. I suppose you can say man city is synonomous with Spain (in this regard) and arsenal with argentina (in this regard). The same way asian countries rarely support their own country in local tournament but rather prefer to thrill themselves by lending their allegiances to foreign nations even going so far as to go to international matches. When namibia play germany about 80% of the world will probably be supporting germany.
It depends, the technical level of football is higher within the Top Leagues but I think for sheer drama you cant beat a good International tournament.
I think it's just the Spain games that look boring, this tournament has had quite a few great games. Even the 0-0 between Italy and England was pretty entertaining, as Italy tried things whereas Spain always looks for the 100% chance.
