Looks like Steve Bruce is going to take a look over pre-season before deciding to let him go or not. I dont think the performances he put in under Barmby were anything special and if we sign the players we are linked with he doesn't have a place. Am I the only one who thinks he offers nothing we don't already have? A midfield of Koren, McKenna, Stewart (if his head is on right) Cairney, Emerton shows we need a couple of wide players but as a whole the central role is more than covered. McKenna had a fantastic season last year and I see no reason why he wouldnt be first choice defensive midfielder at the start of the season. We have a few fringe player coming back and it will be interesting to see how SB views them. I would like to see if Jay Simpson gets another look in. I would like to see him get a fair crack at pre-season along side Fryatt.
Neither is Oli, I think the fail have got that wrong, I believe he had a relegation clause(along with McShane) and both are on less than £20k, Ghilas is in fact our best paid player on £20k, as he had no such clause.
With Bruce still on holiday, they've got little option, I believe they've got an interview with him sorted for Monday or Tuesday.
They have to write something to fill the back page. The only local sports news coming out is from the rugby clubs. From Hull City there is just a deafening silence. Will all kick off on Monday......... I hope.
To be fair to Oli he was thrown into the first team after playing little or no football for months, he was then expected; To be at match fitness. Be comfortable playing with players he had never played with before Perform as good as or better than Mckenna. None of those were going to happen in the brief game time he was given. He's still one of our best players, regardless of what people on here say, he just needs game time. I hope Bruce see's this and utilises him.
I think its just guess work because he's contracted to turn up next week and there is no immediate move on for him, the mail can say he is under consideration/fresh start or whatever without being far wrong. I still think we are looking to move him on, I don't think he will be here come August. He'll do well for another Championship but he just doesn't fit in at City now. McShane however could still have a future at the club. We need Cb and RB cover and we have that in Macca, he's probably going to get a chance to prove himself in the pre season games.
This guys like a turd that wont flush. Just when you think you're rid of him, he's there, poking his head out the u-bend stinking up the place. He's obviously a talented footballer, but he needs to move on for the good of himself and the club.
Precisely. Everyone accepted that King wasnt fit and needed time to get aywhere near match fit and consequntly showed huge patience. If you remember how bad he was against Crawley and he wasnt even inured. Oli meanwhile is expected to come straight in after a bad injury and immediately be up to speed. It's got to be the same for both players.
Correct. It would not surprise me to see the Wendies come in for Oli if the Norris deal does not happen. Jones and Oli have previous. Oli like Stewart needs a pre-season behind him. Everyone starts afresh so who dares wins i guess. Oli does have one thing that City need more of and thats experience. HDM fishing around for anything they can. They could have done stories on what and where the PL promotion squad are upto now. At least that would be different for a change. imo (ie.Pedersen and JJ for starters) I dont see McShane at all having a future here. I would suggest City fans prepare themselves for his departure in the coming weeks. The club will have about £30k a week in wages to play with once Ghilas and McShane have gone. Plus.. Michael Keane can cover both CB and Rosie at full back.
Has anything happened with Ghilas? I wonder if he's going to get a crack this time round, Or if he is on his wat as well?
Err, no, that's not correct. Actually, all of its wrong. And no, I won't say how I know. No doubt going to get the usual barracking now but couldn't give a hoot.
