Bert van Marwijk(60) just announced his resignation as head coach of the Dutch national squad. After four years he quits the job. After a dreadfull performance by the Dutch on this European Championship the country was asking for his head. Both media, pundits and football legends questioned if Van Marwijk was able to remain in his position. And it appears to be that Van Marwijk caved in and handed in his resignation letter at the KNVB(Dutch version of the FA). Under the leadership of Van Marwijk the Dutch qualified without a loss for the 2010 World Cup in Africa and almost repeated that feat for this EC in Poland and Ukraine. But in the last qualifying match against Sweden the Dutch lost 3-2. As coach he led the Dutch to the Finals of the World Cup in 2012 and in March of this year his team defeated the English in Wembley Stadium, 2-3. The Dutch coach won the Uefa Cup with Feyenoord in 2002 and was the head coach of Borussia Dortmund from 2004 till 2006. In 2007 he returned to Feyenoord and in 2008 he replanced Marco van Basten as head coach of the Dutch team.
