If Ba, Best, Lover, Xisco leave.

We'll be left with Cisse and Shola. I know we're going after another striker, but would you be happy with just 3 seniour strikers? One which is basically just an impact player, and a new striker that's unproven in the PL?

I really hope we keep Ba, or buy a couple more strikers.

Don't honestly think that Lover and Xisco will be missed that much. At least Lover showed some heart and did put a shift in and had plenty of speed that troubled defences, but I'm afraid Xisco looked as if he came only for pay day.

Ba and Best caused defences some problems and both have good work rates and put plenty into the team, it'll be a pity to lose them but they won't be going without having replacements lined up. The rumour mill will be working overtime before too long.

Hope Ba stays then with Cisse and Shola think we need one more top class striker and a good bargain/young striker. If Demba leaves then add a quality striker signing to replace him onto that. Think signing 3 strikers including 2 quality proven players unlikely for us hence my big hope that Demba stays.

i'd like to see us push the boat out for De Jong then sign someone some one with the potential to step up. like jordan rhodes or something assuming we could get him for a modest price.

We have to sign 2 quality strikers, we are going to lose Ba(if he stays) and Cisse to ACON in January again this year. If we get 2 in now, it will give them time to bed in, use the Eurpoa league games, league cup as they will be required in January full time.

1 quality striker, 1 up and comer...

If we continue to play the 4,3,3 we have Sammy, Ferguson, Ba, Cisse, Hatem, Shola and Gutierrez who are all capable of playing across that front 3 line. (Vuckic is another possibility although I see him more as a CM)

I reckon it will be one striker in regardless of how many we ship out (as long as we don't sell Cisse). Looks like Pards is happy with developing the 4-3-3 formation and with the likes of Ben Arfa, Jonas, Marveaux etc.. backing up the forwards, I'd say rightly so. Much rather we signed one quality forward to replace the 3 or 4 outgoing forwards than replace each man for man to keep the headcount up.

Well I suppose the 4-3-3 is the best and it does work best with 2 DM's, 1 CAM, 2 wingers and a striker.

However, It would be nice to have more than 2 options for the striker role for a start.

I don't consider Shola a good option for a start in a big game, but I could see him playing in a 4-4-1-1 in a less important game. Him knocking down for an attacking mid.

I think we should consider more than one formation.

If we sold all those 4 I think we'd need to sign a minimum of two. Only of those two would need to be a first team option straight away. Maybe De Jong, and then a Jordan Rhodes type to develop.

Shola is just fine for the early stages of Europe. He'll be more than a handful for any club in the EL until the latter stages.

The beauty with the 4-3-3 formation is that the more familiar the players become with is, it can easily be changed to 4-5-1, 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-1-2.

Agreed. Rotation will be key and we can pull it off well.
