Arsenal Strikers - Competition for Places

Currently at the club we have 12 strikers:

RVP
Giroud
Podolski
Walcott
Gervinho
Chamakh
Park
Arshavin
Bendtner
Vela
Campbell
Afobe

(Not included Oxocube as he hasn't played as a central striker).

Now some of these will be sold or loaned out and others will play wide positions, but there will still be massive competition for our strikers.

I think we will be left with the following Strikers in the squad:

RVP
Giroud
Podolski
Walcott
Gervinho
Park
Campbell
Afobe

Afobe and Campbell will most likely appear in the League Cup and then go on loan for the second half of the season. I've left in Park as i think he will be given longer to prove himself. I think he is a decent squad player and there was an article on Arsenal.com about him trying to break into the team this season now that he has settled. There is more to come from him.

Centrally i think our main options will be RVP, Giroud, Park in that order, with Gervinho, Walcott and Podolski playing wide roles

These players seem hungry. They all want to prove themselves, win trophies and play football. They know they will have to play well to stay in the team and i think this competition for places is what has been missing from the team. We have alot of players who are capable of scoring who all have differing styles of play. Great depth and options.

We used to have a selection of good strikers at the club at the same time and it looks like we are going back to those days.

Who do you think will stay, who will leave, who will be first choice etc....?

I agree Afobe will go on loan but i think he will get a chance in the League Cup first. Same with Campbell unless he doesn't get his permit in which case it'll be a season long loan again.

Why do you think Park will be sold? Who would you keep instead? Bendtner? Chamakh? Or do you think we have enough options to sell the lot? Personally i think one of our strikers who seem to have been resigned to the scrapheap by most, need to stay to make up the depth in the squad.

Bendtner's chance has passed, Chamakh was great for half a season but needs to play regularly to pick up form and i can't see that happening as third choice so think he will want to leave. Park is the only option who hasn't been given a proper shot at earning his squad place yet and his goal against Bolton was great - i think he played fairly well for the reserves as well. He knows he will only be a squad player and will look to take any chances he gets given. With Chamakh etc gone and him settled into the country he will feel he can try and make an impact.

I think that leaves us slightly short on strikers which is why i would keep Park as the back-up. He won't get much game time but he is the "oh **** all our strikers got injured!" player.
