    Newbury 8.35 Selfsame 7/2

Debut win marked her down as a smart filly, overcoming plenty of adversity and is surely well handicapped off a mark of 74, Khione looks the obvious danger off 81 but I think this is a classy filly and the handicapper looks to have let her in lightly.

In the 7f maiden, Passing Parade is supposedly a nice filly but I dont think there will be much value in the price and Strictly Silca sets a fair standard, a race to watch closely imo but I wouldnt be surprised is Passing Parade got the job done first time up, will have a look at the betting tomorrow.

Newbury 8.00 ELEGANT FLIGHT 11-1 PP finished last season off really well and probably needed the run on seasonal debut. It's a stand out price with Paddy so I dont expect it to be around for long. We are taking a chance that it gets a mile and acts on the softish going (two wins were on the AW) but I think it will and having Keiren in the saddle is a massive plus.

I have a sneaky for Amber Heights too at Brighton 3.15 as Henry Candy's horses are running well but this one has yet to show it acts as well on turf as the AW. Off topweight today but it is capable of winning off it's current mark and the 7-1 is tempting.

One of our old members has a share in a horse running today and he sent me positive vibes via email. The race in question is the 2.30 at Beverley and the horse unsurprisingly is Throwing Roses. The yard are expecting the horse to like the step up in trip and on form she should break her maiden tag.

I am just passing on what I am told, I haven't backed it and I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the Middleham Park Racing runners finish in the frame in the race.

Good luck one and all today.

    5.15 Brighton

    Tawseef 40/1

Only playing small stakes as there are definitely a few concerns about Roy Brotherton's 4 year old but I definitely think he's overpriced. Tawseef comes here on the back of a break from March which I am hoping will have freshened him up after a largely fruitless campaign on the AW where the best he did on 7 starts since last October was finish 3rd. However, he did shape well on a few occasions and I don't think that he's completely regressive. There are definitely a few things that stand out to me today. Firstly, the return to Brighton and also the booking of George Baker. Tawseef made his handicap debut off a mark of 56 over C+D last October when running an excellent race to finish an unlucky 2L beaten 3rd. That day he met some trouble in running and had to be switched quite wide before he came with his run and I think he definitely would have finished closer with a clear run. The form of that race is strong with the winner Methayel winning on his next subsequent start and it was a very promising effort. Today he returns to Brighton's unique track off a 4lb lower mark and I find it very interesting that this is the place he returns to for his next turf start. Trainer Roy Brotherton has only had one runner here in the past 5 seasons (Tawseef) and I think its significant that the trainer make a 6hr 30 minutes round trip with just one runner. George Baker takes the ride today and is a very eye catching booking. Baker and Brotheron teamed up only once last year which resulted in a win so I think this is an indication that a big run is expected. Although favourite Toga Tiger is going to be extremely difficult to beat, Tawseef is clearly well weighted and handles the track well. If the 3 month break has freshened him up and rejuvenated this 4 year old than I foresee a big run at a massive price.
