I've just seen the breaking news on BBC News 24.Apparently Stan Kroenke has agreed to buy the shares of Danny Fiszman and Lady Bracewell Smith. If this goes through Kroenke will basically own Arsenal

Don't be silly <ok> Kronke has been at Arsenal for 4 years already and has steered the club along with Gazidis to become club that has the best financial security and long term sustainability. Your throw away comment is just dumb.

And leave it to Hill-Wood? I think Kronke and Gazidis have done a good job.

I've got no idea whether this is good or bad, just have to wait and see I suppose. At least Usmanov didn't take over though, i'd rather Hicks and Gillet took over than him.

Over the last 4 years what investment has Stan Kroenke put into Arsenal?

Kroenke doesn't "own" Arsenal yet, now that he is majority shareholder he legally has to make an offer to buy the rest of the shares, Usamov however can make a counter offer to buy all the shares

Think of it this way, if you had a car that 3 other people joint owned with you, would you be throwing all your money at it?

He's a bitter City fan. Most of his comments are just dumb <ok>

Arsenal is like United - neither club has needed much external investment over the past couple of decades. As long as they don't get an owner who puts on more debt than the club can support, or who insists on buying useless "star" players that the club doesn't need, they'll be fine. Personally, I think this is a good thing for Arsenal - I don't think a plc structure works well for a football club - owners don't expect a big profit, and too often you find that they have their own goals for the club. If those goals conflict, you get problems like we had at United with McManus and Magnier and Liverpool had between Hicks and Gilette.

Very true, plus Kroenke has extensive experience with owning a sports team so knows that money needs to go in to bring success. I doubt he wanted to throw millions into Arsenal with the potenital that Usamov could have taken control of Arsenal

Arsenal have never been looking for a 'sugar daddy'. A sustainable business model was and is something that Arsenal have always prided themselves on. Kronke and Gazidis deserve a lot of credit for taking Arsenal to the next level.

How does everyone think his takeover will affect the club?

To be honest, not much will change really. Kronke has already been calling the shots for the last 2-3 years and alongside Gazidis, they are the fulcrum of Arsenal at board level. If the takeover is successful (Usmanov notwithstanding) then we may see Kronke invest some more of his own money into the squad side of things - which would be nice, but the business model that they have established is set up to serve Arsenal for the next two or three decades.

Interesting it should happen now whilst we haven't yet got on the top rung of financial clout re. revenue and the sanctions not being in plae yet.

I'm not as disappointed I thought I would be.

I can't see him investing money in the squad when you've got over £100 million burning a hole in the bank account - that doesn't make a whole lot of business sense. The only real difference is likely to be that you'll have one person making the big decisions instead of a board of directors that haven't always gotten on very well. Which should make it easier to negotiate with sponsors and be quicker to the punch when signing new players. Personally, I think this is just the latest sign that the plc structure doesn't work well for a PL football club.
