aloha. I used to post on the old 606 with the same user name but i was a regular poster on here til about 5-6 months ago having been on since the migration.

It all just got a bit boring with the slanging matches and mass defections and i fell out of love with the forum. decided i'd drop in out of sheer boredom yesterday and got straight back on the soap box this morning. So hello again to all that might recall me and hello to the newbies.

I must admit, with things like this Rangers dilemma, it makes me appreciate Fat Mike a lot more. We could easily have gone te same way.

Difficult one. Essentially no, no exception should be made. They have ****ed up big time and allowing them to just continue despite this leaves an open door for problems in the future. On the other side of course you have the issue of them being the major earner for most clubs up there. Are you putting the health of other clubs at risk by kicking them out? 5 of the clubs have already said they won't allow it so they are out regardless. Clearly those 5 chairman won't be doing it just out of spite and clearly feel the clubs will go on without them. That being the case then unfortunately they have to serve their time for me.

Agree Warm pouch. It must be very difficult for the other clubs voting, but there is a lot of talk from the club spokespersons stating they feel they have to put 'integrity above finance'. They know it will hurt their pockets, but they are voting based on morals. St Johnstone stated:

"It is important that a clear and unambiguous message goes out from the custodians of Scottish football that this sort of scenario should never be allowed to happen again."

Also sounds like they have held forums with fans to understand how those who support their clubs feel about the situation. And most seem to be against Newco staying in the SPL, despite knowing it could well damage their own teams financially. Seems like the clubs have taken the decision very seriously and in a well-considered manner, as there are implications either way. Sad to see a club go under, but that's why you have to live within your means.

The clubs will undoubtedly suffer bigstyle financially by voting Rangers out but amazingly most seem like they are going to do it. Whilst i agree totally with that i cant help but have sympathy with the genuine fans of the club who will have known nothing about these offences when they were being commited and now will be the ones to suffer.
I dont have any allegience to any club but Newcastle so i say that purely as a fan of football who has respect for genuine fans of any club. None of us has any real insight to the way our club is run and anyones club could have fallen into the hands of people like this.
Sadly though i agree that no clubs punishment should differ because it is either bigger than normal or smaller and Rangers should recieve the same punishment that any other club would recieve.

THIS! At one point a couple of years ago I thought we might go down this route. It made me feel sick to the core. Wouldn't wish it on any fans of any team - but the club itself is in a mess and if they are voted out then so be it. At least they've had the 'chance' by being afforded a voting system.

Isn't Oor Wullie a Rangers fan? He'll not be happy about this.

I must be one of the few who doesn't give a toss about scottish football. Take out the Old Firm and Newcastle would get the attendance of the rest of the divisions combined! Who wants to know how Third Lanark and Montrose got on? (Although I do have a soft spot for East Stirling, as they are usually the whipping boys)

One point that should be made is that as a club, Rangers do not exist. This is not a punishment or relegation, this is a new club that has bought Ibrox and is attempting to sign Ranger's old players on free transfers essentially.

It's a massive shame for the Rangers fans who had no idea their club was being ran in a corrupt manner but they have a new club to support (much as Gretna 2008 and the new Darlington) that must now apply to join the Scottish Third Division like other non-league clubs such as Spartans have to.

The SPL lifeline was an embarrassment to be honest, if that went through it'd be chaotic. Hearts are struggling financially, they could save a few bob on tax, take out loans they can't possibly repay and push for the title, fold then immediately rejoin the SPL as newHearts with no debt. Why not?

As it stands the league clubs will consider voting in the newco to the Third Division and even though Rangers have made many enemies in the past, they will see a club that will probably still draw 30k+ crowds, compare them to the rival bidders and reach a common sense conclusion to admit them.

Being a new club, they haven't filed enough accounts to play in Europe for three seasons so may as well do a bit of moral cleansing and visit some 'diddy teams' on their inevitable rise back to the top. <ok>

It'll certainly be interesting to see how the power balance swings, I feel Aberdeen are equipping themselves to become part of the (new) New Firm.
