Most of you will be aware of the Rangers predicament.
Opinion seems split between those who believe that, for the SPL to survive, Rangers should be made an exception to the rule.... And those who believe no exception should be made and that they should be made an example of.

Today's news puts a lot of SPL clubs in the latter.

I for one sit in the latter also.

The league will right itself and hopefully become more competitive over the period of a few years. Lets face it everyone is sick of the Glasgow monopoly. Yes Celtic may walk it for a few years but the opportunity is now there for anther team to step up.

If Man U did the same would we want them to keep their place?

TBH all the SPL clubs need Rangers there, I think it was the ICT chairman said that the Rangers and Celtic games were the only ones they made profit on.

Doesn't really bother me one way or the other really. Didn't they want to join the English football league not so long ago?

Still can't give you rep. When was the last time you got any off me?

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Albert's Chip Shop again.

Very tricky. Financially, the SPL need Rangers to keep interest from TV, match day profits, etc. But, is it right to let them off from basically cheating?

    In my view, no.

Any decision the other SPL teams make on the vote won't be taken lightly, but I can't blame them for voting against the Rangers newco being in the SPL.

Much as I don't like to see clubs struggle and disappear (and heaven knows it could have happened to us), it would be wrong for them to get off after seeing the likes of Plymouth suffer.

All Newcastle fans should be angry at the Rangers and their EBT set up if not only for Souness (who was still recieving his Rangers EBT allegedly while managing us) gaining financially from Rangers for making Newcastle pay a massively inflated price for Boumsong, another EBT recipient

Reset every record since they began using the EBTs. Turn every game they played while fielding a player on a dual contract (only one contract being registered with the SFA so technically ineligible to play) into the customary 3-0 loss and correct league table appropriately.

I've heard Rangers might not even be allowed to join the Scottish Third Division, as they need clubs to vote for them on that, too.

They could even have to re-start in the Highland League.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer club.

That'll teach them for smashing up our town in 1969.

The funny thing is... Celtic continue to take the piss but the money will dry up in the SPL now and they will be the ones who suffer.
Talk on the radio today that if Rangers join an English league Celtic will have no option but to follow.... in theory giving Rangers the last laugh.

Personally i say let them sink. and let the banks sink as well. why the hell should everyone else pay the price of someone elses mismanagement. If i was to fall on hard times is anybody going to prop up my mortgage payments for me so that i can sustain a lifestyle i can't afford? no. i i'd have to sell the lot until the pot was empty. **** them. its a harsh lesson. let the Eurozone go under as well. all thats happening at present is one country is effectively signing up to slavery for another with all this debt. It'll all be bad in the short term but its in everyones long terms interests to be stable and self sustaining.

considering i've not posted on here for bloody ages thats one hell of a rant to get back into the swing of things!

Clubs financially reliant on Rangers are in need of restructuring. This forces it upon them, assuming the owners are not morons they will address their spending habits and make their club's finances healthier.

The amount of fanbases threatening to boycott games if newco are voted back in nulifies the benefit of the travelling newco fans.

Sporting integrity MUST come first and Scottish football will be better for it. It will prompt long overdue reform in the leagues and potentially make it more competitive.

If newco start in anything other than the third division then Scottish Football may as well give its television rights to Comedy Central.

Then welcome back! Don't think I've made the acquaintance yet - unless you used to be on the old BBC 606 under a different name. <ok>

ACS, not wanting to steal your thunder, but is it worth a poll to see how many on here would vote them in/out of SPL?
