Sorry Med Dog, I never treated any game like an "Old Firm". I very much enjoyed the Glasgow derby. I would have loved to play the Huns once a day and twice on a sunday but as you well know, the Huns don't exist any more.
I have asked you to provide the parameters of this hypothetical situation. It seems as though you are not going to do that for me, so I shall provide you with some and you can add/subtract to the story should you see fit. In these scenarios we are going to assume that there is going to be a new club. 1) Celtic play a new club whose support is largely derived from people who never really went to football before 2) Celtic play a new club whose support is largely made up of ex-Rangers supporters who readily concede that this is a new club. 3) Celtic play a new club whose support is largely made up of ex-Rangers supporters who willfully delude themselves that this new club is still Rangers. I think you are referring to scenario 3 given that this is the category you fall in to. This is an entirely hypothetical situation that we may or may not see for another 5, 10, 15, 20 or more years. How can I tell you how I will feel? I am only guessing too.
What I do know with absolute certainty is that you know that Rangers are dead and that any new club is just that, a new club. If you want to support a new team, go ahead. Just don't anyone else to play along with this ******ed charade.
