Really surprised how out of his depth Young was. Any of you lot got any ideas why? I can forgive Rooney's first game for being rusty, but its been ages since he had a good game in a tornament. Why? Welbeck did the business though (generally).
No clue why Young was terrible, I'm guessing it was just nerves. With Rooney, I think he flourishes at United as he was molded to fit into the United team and now the team is built to get the best out of Rooney. For England he doesn't have the luxury of a squad being put together to get the most effective Rooney. Either because the correct players aren't picked or because their aren't enough player that are English that step up. I'd really like to see Wilshire and Carrick playing in the midfield with Rooney playing behind the striker, but with Carricks Euro snub I don't think that'll ever happen so Rooney will just have to wait for Scott Parker to learn how to pass the ball forward.

It's hard to do anything with the ball if your midfield can't get you the ball. I know Rooney was poor for different reasons, but in general Rooney won't transfer his United form to the National team if they aren't playing in a similar setup. It's similar to Messi and Argentina, Barcelona is built to get the best out of Messi, but it's a lot harder to do that on a National team.
Well **** but so far ahead of Liverpool its almost as if Liverpool are closer to a rounders team than a football team. Also Rooney hadnt played for what, a month before his first game.
But yet Rooney & Welbeck are the reason we won games in the group. What did the Liverpool players do besides help make us amazingly average. Its not rooney and welbecks job to control the game, they are paid to score, they both did. Why wasnt Gerrard running midfield, or why didnt Johnson do more? Carroll? Could of at least scored a hatrick to show Rooney and Welbeck how to do it couldnt he? Oh thats right, hes allergic to goals.
Without doubt I think Nani was the best United player at the Euros. Hes been one of the best players on the whole aswell for the most part.
