Assuming we sign Giroud (looks very likely) and M'villa (looking more likely as time goes on) this is what our team would look like for next year:-

Forwards: RVP, Podolski, Giroud, Walcott, Gervinho, Oxocube, Miyaichi, Campbell, Park(?)

Midfielders: Wilshere, Arteta, Song, Rosicky, M'villa, Diaby, Ramsey, Coq, Frimpong

Defenders: Vermaelen, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Djourou, Sagna, Santos, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Miquel

    Goalkeepers: Szczesny, (?)

Personally i think this looks like a much improved squad and i'll be happy moving forwards with this team. However if we were to get an additional player, where do you think we need to improve? We have great options up top, both centrally and out wide. Midfield looks pretty crowded for competition (although i know some want a creative mid). I think maybe a utility defender is the signing we need - Vertonghen has been my first choice for the last couple of seasons and i would still take him.

I've assumed above that we sell Arshavin, Chamakh and the (Bendtner, Vela, Denilson.. lot), and put a (?) over park as im not sure we will get rid of him yet but we may do with the incomming strikers.

What do you guys think of the squad above and what would you do to improve it? Will you be happy with Wenger if this is the squad we have for the new season?

I think if Wenger pulls off these signings and gets RVP/Walcott to re-sign then we will be in with a real shout for the EPL next season!

(On a side note i'm very much looking forward to catching a few more glimpses of Wellington, Galindo, Bellerin, Toral, Gnabry etc in the pre-season!)

By the way the (?) on the GK's section is because i have no idea if Flappy will still be around, if Martinez (or whatever his name is) will make a step up etc etc...

It's looking like a fine squad, especially if we add M'Villa to it. The big issue for me is what Bould brings to the table. Our main problem at the moment is defensive consistency and confidence. Can we become a tighter, more focussed defensive unit? With players like MV'illa, i have no doubt, will bring more stability at the back. Players like the Pod and Giroud, will also bring much strength, workrate and defensive to their attacking repitoir. If RVP stays and barring any hideous injuries, we should be very competative. The only thing is can we take it to the next level. Man City and Man U will take some beating....

Good squad except the keepers. Chesney is ok but not good enough for us imo. Maybe he will improve but last year he made a ton of big errors and I think he was lucky that not many of them were punished. He always comes out at ridiculous times. He is like the definition of a dodgy keeper but he has potential.

Agreed. Lets not count our chickens though. M'Villa is the one we really need imo....

Really he has potential as I said. But you cant honestly say you feel safe with him back there. He has many crazy moments.

I feel safe with Szczesney at the back. He has alot of very good qualities for a goalkeeper - control of his area, reflexes, size, very good in one-on-ones etc... He does have a couple of weaknesses in his distribution (can be worked on and will improve) and he can be a little crazy with comming out to get the ball like Lehmann. That isn't always a bad thing as it often catches them by suprise and when it works it saves the day, but occasionaly this will lead to mistakes - like with Jens though the mistakes he makes do not often cost us - and i like a bit of crazy in my players!

Overall he is far better than the other options we have and is already one of the best keepers in the EPL and over the next 10 years in goal for us he will consistently improve. He is a player for the present and future. By no means flawless but definitely good enough and needs to keep that number 1 spot.

My bigger concern in the GK department is our second choice. Flappy won't be happy as number 2 i dont think and Mannone hasn't looked like he is good enough. Martinez possibly able to make the step up, but otherwise we may need to find a back-up GK somewhere.
