Nothing like a nice simple opinion.

Send him out on loan to someone like Huddersfield or Carlisle where he would be a regular starter and just see how he develops.

I've never particularly rated him, as he does not appear to have the football intelligence to make it at any higher level than people like Calvin Zola and Richard Offiang before him.

By all accounts, he also has a big time charley attitude, around the Toon, and is too thick to appreciate the fabulous opportunity that has been placed in front of him. As regards yesterday, he won bugger-all in the air, and couldn't beat his man for pace either.

All in all, I think the question, as to why Pardew doesn't play him has has been answered, by Ranger himself. I'd prefer to see Coochie start up front, as at least he will put in a shift.

I think the reason he was so greedy yesterday was because he is desperate to reak his goal duck.
He knows the fans have high expectations, the players have poked fun at him last season for not scoring (Nil Ranger). It'll all be playing on his mind, including those glaring misses he's had this season.
As for people slating Lovenkrands, he got into good positions if Ranger had only played him in and also had a good chance towards the end. He's not a world beater but can do a better job than Ranger at the minute. He makes a lot of intelligent runs, it's up to who he is up front with to pick him out.

Best thing they can do with Ranger is bring him on for the last 20-30 minutes of a game, depending on how it goes to try and get a goal which will lift a huge weight off of his shoulders. He could do with watching a few games with Carroll in to show him how it should be done, play with a bit of passion, commitment and put himself about abit.

This. For weeks we've all been shouting for Ranger to start. Maybe Pards has been correct to start Shola and Lover together, seems like they're the...dare I say...best choice we've got? <shudder>

It's just like walking into a conversation and going "yeah I like stuff and things"

How much we have missed Best, that's all I'm going to say :(

    And Shola yesterday.

Who would have said that at the start of the season?

Ranger's inexperienced and still has a LOT to learn and yesterday's match was clear evidence that he needs a loan move in the summer because being in the reserves and subs bench won't help his devlopment at all. Lover is a hard-worker but IMO he isn't up to PL quality, he suits a slower and more techical ''type'' of league(Seria A/La Liga for example). Kuqi is awfully average but he can put in a decent shift although lacks quality.. desperate need for AT LEAST one striker in the summer and he better be GOOD.. NO CARLTON COLE PARDEW!!! :(

He was a tad selfish but if I had the slightist chance to score for Newcastle, I'd go for it.

You have to remember it was his first start, he's a very inexperienced striker who was against two very strong, experienced CB's.

I think we need to loan him out next year so he gets a full season of first team football, did Carroll the world of good.

We should loan him out to Huddersfield Town fc to gain more first team experience and aid his development.

Lee Cark, Terry Mcdermott know him well from their days at NUFC and would get the best out of him.
