Can already see Terry, Lampard, Cole, Milner, and Gerrard on the teamsheet for 2014. Even with their walking sticks. England just cant seem to get their head around the fact its the same spine for the england team since 2004 really, and its done nothing for them.

There will be a lot less changes than you think

Lampard, Ferdinand and Barry are all finished
Cole, Gerrard and Terry will be on their last legs but will not be dropped (unless Terry manages to get himself banged up)
Parker will probably not make it and Milner may be sacrificed

The rest will probably all carry on.

Cahill and Jagelka will come through at the back and Richards should start to get in ahead of Johnson. Hopefully Colback can come through and take on the Parker role but after that I am struggling to see who is going to come through.

Could Henderson become a key player by then Hodgson seems to like him a lot putting him in the sqaud was a surprise playing was an even bigger one. Two good seasons could see him playing the Gerrard role and colback the Parker role unlikely but a thought

personally think the main bunch will be

    Hart
    Walker
    Richards
    Smalling
    Jones
    Cole
    Wilshere
    Oxlade-Chamberlin
    Young
    Walcott
    Sturridge
    Wellbeck
    Rooney

need a good central midfielder to come throught because bar Wilshere there is no one, Henderson is average and Rodwell has done nothing

After 5 years in the job Stuart Pearce should have a fair amount of knowledge of the strengths and weaknessess of the up-an-comers, but what have they achieve in the U21s so far? About as much as the senior team, but Roy has to get the right blend of youth and experience and that will be the true sign of his management abilities.

Youngsters have to have regular game time and that is in short supply at the big squad clubs.

Lets face it, over the last decade we have seen a young squad with promise deterioate into what we saw last night. I'd go the german model, start again with the best young kids you can find. Let them develop together into a team. I wouldnt even worry about qualifying for the next world cup personally cos with the current set up it is pointless.

The Lee Cattermole that we signed immediately after Martin O@Neill took over could easily play in an England team - the form he showed at that point before his niggling injuries and suspension was superb - if he can play like that all the time he SHOULD be in the squad (BTW - he's as good as Parker from what I've seen of Parker and I've said this over and over before) - PLaying for Sunderland is a problem though as players playing in the North East (since Shearer) don't really get to play for England any more

Phil Bardsley - who said he would've loved to play for England but was never given the opportunity - couldn't get into the team - yet Glen Johnson (FFS!) was first choice Right Back - I wouldn't have Johnson at Sunderland as back up - I'd honestly rather have John O'Shea at right back

As much as Micah Richards is probably the best English right back going atm (Glen Johnson is not even in the same league of player imo), I would not choose him

He rejected to be a call up player for England and if accepted the position would of been at the Euros, any player who does not wish to play for their country EVEN if it is just a backup should not play for England imo

    Colback, Henderson, Johnson, Welbeck, Sturridge..

    There's a start.
