After watching England play an incredibly painful to watch game, where we have barely any possession and can't string 2 passes together. I can't wait to see Liverpool play with the ball, passing itaround and control the game. Shows we did the right thing in getting rid of Hodgson.

Got to say, I thought Hodgson has taken this shight as far (if not further) as they can go.

And that was the swansong of the 'Golden Generation'.

It was just like watching Chelsea tonight. It was embarrassing to watch.

Watching Spain yesterday as they suffocated France, I thought the very same thing.

I'll certainly give him all the time he needs.

Today was painful and made me realise how much I'm looking forward to never seeing hit and hope footy again from Liverpool. A ****ing ****e ethos that has been a part of the English game for too long.

We are miles away from the standard of the top teams and can't see us improving any time soon.no point blaming Hodgson thought he did what was expected but how can you account for the piss poor form of young,Rooney,Milner and to some degree Terry although he was better tonight.
We are second rate and we should accept the fact that a quarter final is now all we can expect.
Let's see how Rodgers does first but if he gets us playing like Spain/barca then great.

Dont forget star man Milner. We should have put Henderson on the right if Roy wanted a compact midfield.

I think England are capable of much more. Players like Sturridge, Wellbeck, A Johnson, K Walker, Micah Richards, Sterling, Ox, Henderson, Carroll are fantastic attacking prospects.

It all boils down to Roy's tactics - what were the nation expecting from this man? Hopefully fans across the nation can now see why we got rid of him. If Redknapp was manager, I truly believe we would have seen much better.

We have to suffer four more years of that sh*te. We were lucky throughout the tournament until the penalty kicks last night. We greatly overachieved imo.

We aren't good enough, nor is Roy. I'd rather go down having a go than watching negative tactics like that. IMO, we have taken giant strides backwards......and yet the press are bigging Roy up. I just don't get it.

Exactly - had Capello played like that, fans and the media would have slaughtered him (and I'm sure they did!).

England are not world beaters and are miles behind teams like Spain and Germany but England are capable of playing fast attacking football.

A lot of people say that PL is the fastest and most exciting league in the world but then we contradict ourselves with this boring negative football.

Joe Hart is immense. I have a slight man crush on Joe Hart... I'd actually buy a goalkeeper shirt and have his name on the back of it if we signed him

It is interesting that at a time when most of the footballing world is playing possession football, England decided to select a manager who does the exact opposite. Never going to compete.

While English players might not quite have the technical ability as their European counterparts they can pass a ball & run 20ft at a time; while they might not be as good at it as the remaining teams they still have a hell of a lot more skill & technique than Roy obviously believes with his set up.

It's mentality; for all the talk of heart, determination etc England players go into matches feeling inferior; Jesus, if your manager is setting you up like a League one side how the hell do you believe you can ever compete? Do I think England playing their aggressive style would win; no, but it would at least feel natural to these players

Worrying stat: Ireland had more possession against Italy than England & Ireland were statistically the worst side in the competition!

English football needs a rethink. Look at how the French, Italians, Germans and Spanish kept the ball.

Very few times did any English player turn and pass to keep possession.

England don't have a Pirlo or a Xavi or a Schweinsteiger - unless Wilshere steps up.

England played like Greece, and Greece probably played better football when they had the ball than England did.
