SUNDERLAND are eyeing up Blackburn Rovers star Steven Nzonzi. The Black Cats missed out on ex-Wigan midfielder Mohamed Diame, with the Senegal international opting to join West Ham on a Bosman free transfer. And they have now turned their attention to French enforcer Nzonzi, who has told relegated Rovers that he wants to leave Ewood Park. However, the 23-year-old ex-France Under-21 international still has three years left on his contract and will not come cheap. Rovers are resigned to losing their best players after slipping into the Championship with striker Yakubu, goalkeeper Paul Robinson, defenders Scott Dann, Martin Olsson and Gael Givet also keen to move on. Blackburn’s Indian owners Venky’s know it would be pointless to try to keep unhappy players. Venky’s new global adviser, Shebby Singh, admitted this week: “We don’t want to lose anyone but, under the circumstances, if there are players that we cannot hang on to, then we will have to let them go. “There is no doubt about that. “We can’t keep unhappy players because by letting unhappy players go it will create more opportunities for the local players. I think the time has come now to reward the boys who have come through from the academy.” Blackburn’s Canadian winger Junior Hoilett is also quitting the club this summer when his contract expires and Sunderland are still hoping to land him on a Bosman. Sunderland also remain interested in Wigan winger Victor Moses, although Chelsea are now favourites to sign the 21-year-old. Chelsea had a £4m offer for Moses (left) rejected out of hand, with the Latics valuing the Nigeria international at double that fee. Sunderland may not match the wages on offer at Stamford Bridge, but would also be able to offer regular first team football – something that Chelsea could not guarantee. But former Crystal Palace man Moses may decide the chance to move back to the capital, and help Chelsea defend their Champions League crown, is too good an opportunity to pass up -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Would love 2 of the 3names mentioned there, NZonzi is only 23 and I think in a good team with a good manager like MoN at the club the lad would come on leaps and bounds and is much, much better than other rumored target Keith Andrews, NZonzi for me would add something to the squad a player like Andrews wouldn't. As for Hoilett it does look like he is off to Germany but if there is a chance we can get him WE NEED TO go and get him, with Sess rumoured to be off he could fill Sess' boots as the link up man between the midfield and defence and IF we can keep Sess and add Hoilett on the wing we would have some cracking attacking options in the side. Moses, well what does he want to do be a squad player at Chelsea or come to a club like Sunderland and be a regular. The lad needs to look at Daniel Sturridge's situation, the lad is class and if was at a club were he was playing every week rather than stuck on the bench for Chelsea he would probably be in the England squad at the Euros now, I know Moses plays for Nigeria at international level but he is only a young lad does he want to put his career on hold for a couple of season's as he sits on the bench? As I said would love 2 of that 3
But thats the whole point Billy. We are a team of short arses and desperately need some height in the middle of the park imo.
I aint seen much of the lad but he seems the box to box midfielder which we dnt have and as said above would add that much needed height in the middle of the park. According to reports he was a bit inconsistent at Blackburn but under MoN I think he would get the best out of him and he would be in a much better team, remember this lad is only 23, he is a young lad who is going to get better and better. He ran the show against us when we played them down there this season just gone
