Hello I am HOADIE_BOI and this is the match day thread for the England Vs Italy match, I do the match day hubs (Threads as many of you will know it as) for Gillingham throughout the season and have done so for a season and a half. I have decided that I will do the Match day hubs for the England games throughout the European championship.
We have made it there to the Quarter Finals so now it is time to get behind England, do you believe we can make it all the way, you can explain what you think on this thread, I have full belief in England. You can chat before the game and give us your predictions, team sheet, score, scorers e.t.c.
Also you chat throughout the game then summerise it at the end with what you thought of the game and how you think we are doing.
I have made sure that I have posted it early so that you get a chance to have a chat before the match as it will come sooner that you think.
You can post your team predictions before the game, you may include the starting 11 plus the subs which you think will be in the team, no points awarded for your predictions it is just for fun, it allows you to start a healthy debate between each other about the team which we will play or what it should be.
I will add a poll where you can vote the outcome of the game, England win or Italy Win, I will not put draw as it may be a draw after 90 minutes but I am asking your views on whether we will win at the end of the game even if there is penalties. You can post how you think the game will go below.
There is no points awarded for your predictions, it is just for fun.
Also if you are putting any bets on England you can post below, I have a few bets on England like normal and if you want you can post your tips and where you think is the best place to bet, I personally think Paddy Power is the best place to bet.

England will need to raise their game I think to stand a chance as they looked to be in big trouble in the first half.

Having a game and a goal under Rooneys belt should in theory help though.

I think we are good defensively but that is mainly due to having a strong keeper, but we still need to go in for a ball a bit more, standing off the ball is good in a way but it does really make you n edge watching the game, I think we need to be a bit more offensive to catch Italy out because if we pick up our game a little bit more I don't think Italy will be able to cope to well, I think Italy are under rated a little bit but we have been up to now as people expected us to fail, I have a lot of faith in England that they will do the job, hope Greece can do the job against Germany aswell, that would be a laugh, they were 9/1 to win last I looked and I done an accumulator before last nights games Greece to win against Germany, Czech Republic to win against Portugal, Sweden to win against France and England to win against Ukraine 110/1 that was, 2 out of 4 correct going good, but I also done one more with England to win against Ukraine, Sweden to beat France, Germany to win against Greece and also Portugal to win against Czech Republic but now we are there I wish I had done one with England win against Ukraine, Sweden beat France, Czech win against Portugal and Germany beat Greece as I see that them last 2 may be the real outcomes. But the Germany and Portugal one I have is 20/1 with the England and Sweden win.

 

This game will be very tough. I think a lot of people seem inclined to underrate Italy when I fell they're stronger than us man-for-man. Not to say we can't win, but I wouldn't be surprised if the road ends here.

 

I can see it being very tight, 0-0 at HT with maybe a set piece separating the two sides in the second half.

 

I think it will be an extremely close game but we have just got to get behind them and believe they can do it, they may do it, you never know.

 

Stop Pirlo - that is all.

 

What about Balotelli, I think he will be pivotal in their chances.

 

The Ireland goal was good, but I wasn't enthralled with him against Spain or Croatia, I'd be more worried if Antonio Di Natale was on the field, much more of a threat, been fantastic for Udinese this season.

 

Yeah hopefully they will not play him.

 

England will beat Italy. Even Spain are Beatable at the Moment. No Outstanding Team. England have a Good Chance of Winning it. Helped that not much Pressure on them. Czech Republic Will Beat Portugal Too. If the Ref is not Conned by Players Falling Down, all the Time.

 

Just can Greece beat Germany, would be great if that happens.

that will give us a 50/50 chance. Which is the best we can hope for.

 

I think if we start Carroll we may play better, I think he is rather influential in how we play.

 

Not massively kept up with international football recently but I've always had Italy down as a slow team. Some fast wingers may cause Italy some issues but then again England have to get it out of midfield first.

 

Think we will have to keep Balotelli and Pirlo quiet. Think Mario has too much in his locker for our central defenders as has Pirlo for our midfield. Also feel that their full backs will cause us some problems and we need our wide men to ensure they are kept on the back foot and not give them the space to operate in our half of the field.

 

At least we are one day closer, I can't wait for the game.

 

Thiago Motta a big doubt for the game, done his thigh/hammy in.

 

I di not think Danny Welbeck will start the game Andy Carroll will

 

I would rather see Carroll in the team than Welbeck but I doubt Roy will change the team at all.
