It was well documented that BR was one of José mourinho's disciples and that he spent time with the Spanish national team to learn and develop before leaving.. I was trying to locate some of the managers ML has worked under to try and understand how he may have been influenced …. They only name I can find is Barcelona coach Johan Cruyff I fully appreciate ML will be his own man and has his own ideas, but some coaching ideas must have made an impression on him whilst working under JC and others… But who are the others ?? And does it really matter?????
Doesn't really matter with us! Laudrup was an essential and integral part of Cruyff's team, and as such has a large hand in creating the style and ethos of football which has since been adopted by an ever growing number of clubs. I'd imagine he realises this, and his comments about, essentially, "not rocking the boat" are just about perfect from my point of view! Cruyff created the Barcelona dream team... who's to say 20 years down the line we're all going to be sitting here thinking "God, remember when Laudrup got appointed? That was the start of the Swansea total-football era...."
Worked as an assistant manager under Morten Olsen at the Danish national team for 4 years. Morten Olsen has the same philosophy as Cruyff. Fetched Laudrup back from Japan to join the Ajax team with Morten Olsen's as the coach and ended up winning the league with the most points ever.
lets see what laudrup can do first, imo fans are making him god before he has even had his first game yet, His managerial career so far has had its problems with him being sacked and walking out of a club. so i would rather stay on the fence and see what he can do with us. to put the guy on a high pedestal now could leave fans believing that all he has to do is turn up. expectations are going overboard at this time, If he does not do what the fans have expected then what.....lets wait and see what he can do and stop putting pressure on him by thinking now we have one of the greatest players who ever played the game then we are going to do well.......we dont know yet none of us do.
He has a straight forward approach. He will tell it to the Board the way it is and if nothing else there will be a reality check. I think it is always harder for the truly gifted in any art or sport to become a coach and mentor - it is always hard to tangiblize the intangible, which is what you have to do to communicate effectively and for the gifted where so much just appears to happen from below the conscious this is the hardest part. If ML can translate his gifts into talk and drills and tactics then we will be taking steps forward. Miracles should not be expected and are not needed. What we need are improvements on an incremental level, which is certainly within his capabilities.
he seems a level headed guy so lets see how he does and not expect everything to go his way. he should improve up front being a goal scorer himself and he will certainly put the feel good factor into the club but nothing is guaranteed for he may be rubbish for all we know. hodgson could not get liverpool to perform but look at him now with england. I dont like to much hype as if it dont happen then that feel good factor can quickly turn to gloom. lets give him a chance and support everything he does and see what happens.
