Not sure he would be happy dropping down but he would be a big fish in a little pond.
£2m isn't too bad but I would have hoped it would have been a bit more.
If it is true, I wish the lad all the best as he will leave us with some fond memories.

On a more positive front, any move would free up a striker berth for either Giudetti or De Jong...

    Next out the door.... Ranger??

I liked Best and I'm sorry to see him go, he was a decent player who didn't really get the chance to prove himself.

I wish him well at Blackburn.

Ranger is a different kettle of fish, got a good game in him of course but .........................

Think he'll be better suited down in London.

Great player when given consistent games. At PL mid table level he can score 15+ goals in a season if he starts every game, and assist some.

He'll be one of the top scorers in the CC if he's given good enough service.

Really liked Besty and I don't think there's many Premier League players who can take the ball down better than him!

Good luck to him, hope he does well!

Shame. Thought he would be worth more than £2m to us as back-up alone. He is definitely good enough for mid-table Prem.

Good back up and he scored some good goals last season. Thought we could have asked for at least 3 mil.
Wish the lad all the best.

Met him in Tesco's once, a real nice friendly guy with a smile as wide as the Tyne.

Much as I like the guy, I think the fact that he didn't even make the Ireland SQUAD for the Euros tells you all you want to know.

If we want to push on, as a club, AP will have to be a little ruthless, this summer, like Keegan was when we first got promoted to the EPL and he let David Kelly go, even though he had scored well over 20 goals the previous season.

However, I wish Best good fortune, wherever he ends up.

for me, as long as anyone going out of the door is replaced with better quality this can only bode well for our long term squad development.

A good lad who did well when given the chance at the start of the season. I'm sure Demba would be complimentary about him because he was the oen to benefit most from his play. Previously he had looked lazy and pretty poor. I think the penny dropped that if you want to be a top player you have to work. He'd do very well in the championship. I'd be sad to see him go but this is all part and parcel of a club going places. Also he has spent enough of his career watching and then playing in the lower leagues, he'll be keen to get a regular berth somewhere.

This, but hope he does well where ever he goes. Good solid player will tear the championship apart if he gets enough games.

I'm a bit concerned we think we are better than mid-table, stop getting our collective hopes up, it's always better when we surprisingly over-achieve!

On-topic, Best was a good lad, everyone wrote him off as a "panic" or "overpriced" buy to begin with, but he did well for us I think. Sad he's leaving but I wish him well like most people. Always sad he never made an appearance for Gillette, seeing as they like their sports stars... Gilette, the best a Best cannot best... Would have been beautiful...

Hmm, another player leaving and still nobody coming in?

    Very concerned.

A tidy and very likeable player. Lets not forget games like our 1-0 victory against QPR last season when he earned us valuable points, plus he was one of the main architects behind our 4-4 recovery. He's premiership quality and i think we'll struggle to find a player who's much better than him who is happy to play second fiddle to others.

As for not getting into the Ireland squad, comments made by Trappatoni showed he barely watched him or even gave him a chance (said his work ethic wasn't good enough - what a joke! Ability questionable at times but work ethic was never in doubt in my opinion).

Wish him best if he goes, he deserves praise and fans and a club who appreciate him.

If he does leave, I'll be very sad to see him go, hes a great backup striker, when he plays he scores goals its a simple as that, probably never going to be anything more than a 8-10 goal a season man but links up extremely well with strikers, at the start of the season he assisted about 2-3 of Ba's goals if I remember rightly.

Would be happy to keep him but can understand why he would leave because hes never going to be anything more than a backup with the likes of Cisse and Ba in the running.

My only gripe with him is that he is very injury prone and I'm sick of injury prone players wearing the B&W, we've had enough of that to last a lifetime.

Sad to see him go, hope we get someone good like De Jong to replace him. He always seemed to work hard, was definitely my man of the match for the 4-4 - worked his socks off when we were 4-0 down.

Agreed, but you may call me crazy, but I actually thought Ranger was man of the match, he came on and changed everything... his mere presence alone was causing havoc with the Arsenal defence, much in the way he did in the 3-1 at home to Liverpool in that season too.
