My thoughts on the Aston Villa game

I can't tell if you're serious or parodying the people I'm criticising... But it's a good job we aren't getting relegated tomorrow or going into liquidation, and restarting the managerial merry-go-round won't fix anything. There's 11 other teams involved in this possible relegation battle, and we're at the top of them, 6 points clear with 8 games to go and with several key players due to return to the team, not least our first choice centre midfield pairing and striker.

 

Ok sorry should have realised, just saw all those SMB's wanting Bruce out last night.

Still quite generous.
Poor performance all round, didn't look like we were ever going to score.

 

Given how ridiculous our fans can be I couldn't tell, so addressed the issues anyway.

 

It wasn't poor, just poor compared to what he normally is really.

 

I don't know why Lov got an 8 from Barton's tash - he was distinctly average. Perhaps he got an 8 because he played alongside Ranger who made him look good in comparison?

Furthermore, as poor as Barton was today, I don't understand why people are berating Barton for complaining to the ref yet comparing him to Nolan?! As much as I dislike players complaining to the officials, Nolan is one of the worst! He goes about the pitch with a scowl on his face for 90 mins.

Guthrie wasn't as bad as people make out. He didn't have a fantastic game, but then again, who did? He just put a shift in similar to the Wolves game and went about his business.

Enrique had an uncharacteristically poor game. His passing was all over the place and his link up play was poor.


All in all, as bad as we were today, people are overreacting and forget that we are a newly promoted team and are bound to be inconsistent this season. Whilst we may have beaten this team 6-0 at home, losing to them 1-0 away is not such a unlikely result. We had plenty players out, be it through injury or suspension and shouldn't worry ourselves too much about today. We've 6 games left to get a few points chalked up to secure our safety.

The poor performance I mentioned was the team, and Barton was poor, obviously we compare him to his normal performances, and he wasn't good compared to those, therefore he was poor.

 

A bit generous with the ratings maybe, but I feel you make some fair points. It wasn't awful, just toothless up front, it's not as if they dominated us.
