Sorry I didn't mean any offense! I'm not saying you're a wum or anything, I just thought that Major had changed his name to something similar! My bad
Tee hee hee, no worries. I did do a faux-Major post about not liking Stimson because he brought non league players that I have nevered heard of before. It went down well... but I few didn't realise I was joking at first!!
I see what your doing there Lenny, I used to use that trick in management....see how long I could drag out the blame for mistakes on the previous manager - lol
" We trained hard - but it seemed that everytime we were beginning to form into a team we would be reorganised. In life we tend to meet any new situation with reorganisation. It can be a wonderful method for creating the illusion of progress whilst producing confusion, inefficiency and demoralisation. " Those are not my words but that of a Roman legion commander - deja vu ? A man in a hot air balloon was on his way to an important appointment when he realised that he was lost. He saw a man under him and lowered the balloon to speak to the man. The balloonist asked " Can you tell me where I am ? I'm lost and have an important appointment to keep." The man answered by giving the exact grid coordinates of the location. The balloonist said to the man " You must be an engineer " The man replied " Yes I am, how did you know ? " The balloonist replied " The information you gave me, whilst being technically correct, means nothing to me. You've wasted my time and have made me even more late for my appointment." The man replied and said to the balloonist " You must be a manager." The balloonist replied " Yes, I am. How did you know ?" The man said " You have got to where you are largely due to a lot of hot air. You have lost your way. You have made promises that you are in no position to keep. You have asked for help from others who know more than you do, and when you don't understand what they are saying and things have gone wrong, you end up by blaming somebody else for your mistakes."
If the balloonist had asked a Chairman where he was the Chairman would have told him he was suspended under a balloon....you can imagine the rest, the point being that a Chairman is usually a bigger pratt than the manager.
my take on the story is that the balloonist ( manager ) was on his way to an appointment with another, even higher balloonist ( chairman )
Tilson in for second interview http://www.thurrockgazette.co.uk/sport/9774176.Will_Tilly_go_to_Gills_/
In all seriousness, and I know that a lot of the members on this board disagree strongly with this, I don't think Tilson is as bad as an appointment as people think he would be. He did a good job with Southend, things didn't work out at Lincoln but he is certainly by no means a dreadful manager, tactically he is pretty astute and tends to work well with youngsters. I wouldn't say he is my first choice by any means just think people need to realise he isn't too dissimilar to the likes of Martin Allen etc
This is a link to Southend fans take on him comong to us http://www.shrimperzone.com/vb/showthread.php?72369-Tilson-to-Gillingham
I know, Im just saying I bet they still have high regard for him! He did wonders with Southend despite the clubs finances! £8m in debt when he took over there!
It makes me a lot happier that there are suggestions of only three possible managers left in the running rather than five or six. Out of those three though; I only believe Tilson (and possibly Ince) would have applied for the job. Is Scally doing the chasing here?
