According to one daily rag we are in the driving seat to sign Saha?

Would be on a free and on his day there is no doubt a terrific player but far too injury prone for me.

Not sure if I am very excited about this tbh but if Mon thinks he can squeeze a couple of years out of him then We have to in with it and see.

He'd be a good acquisition but hope he's not the only or main striker brought in.

    Injury prone old knacker...

But a whole lot better than what we have, when fit.

But he's 33. Made of glass.

Sorry, but a big no from me. Is this what we are reduced to?

I'm not convinced either bobby but it may just be paper talk. Another treatment table specialist is the last thing we need right now.

Then again, that's what everyone said about tony cottee when Mon signed him for leicester. If went on to shoot them to a cup final victories in 3 years there.

I trust Martin implicitly I guess.

I can't add anything to this. We need a more robust striker than Saha.

i think he could be decent to bring off the bench or fill in for injures if we could keep him fit. im sure mon has other irons in the fire and knows we still need a decent goal scorer as well as saha if we get him.

Aye interesting one that. As you say surely not the main striker but on his day a more than capable player. With injuries he probably hasn't had the busiest of careers so if he is healed his legs might have a season or 2 left

I think he still has something to offer, and as long as the terms are right, why not.

He's a smashing player on the rare occasion he's fit and form.

Wouldn't be surprised if he does a Gyan or Yakubu and moves to a poor league for the money

Looking at his stats and its not as impressive as I thought it would be :-/

Still rather look over to the bench and have Saha to come on than Wickham or Ji

His records pretty good, close to 1 in 3, would have been much better if he'd not always been trying to get bck to match fitness!

Closer to 1 in 2 at Fulham, before the injuries kicked in!

As I have said we need 3 new strikers.

Fletcher has to be the main one and if we get him great!
If we could also get someone like Yilmaz or Guidetti on loan as a gamble signing who have good records in other league then that also would be a good move from MoN
And finally if Saha is the 3rd and on a free (which would keep money available to strengthen the rest of the side then I would be pretty happy as a Safc fan

    Certainly does.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill could now focus his search for a striker on Louis Saha after the Frenchman revealed he would think about a move to the Stadium of Light.

The 33-year-old is a free agent following the conclusion of his short-term contract at Tottenham and he has already been linked with West Ham.

But Sunderland are also known to want a striker, especially with Nicklas Bendtner's loan from Arsenal having come to an end in May, and in January they targeted Bolton's Kevin Davies.

Saha's track record with injuries made some question the former Manchester United and Fulhamplayer's move to Tottenham.

    Options

But O'Neill is reported to be keen and Saha is himself not ruling out a switch to Wearside, as he said: "I would consider going to Sunderland.

"Anything can happen in the transfer market, though, it's always a tense time.

"It's all about making the right choices and the nice thing is to have options."

Saha's time at Tottenham ended in less than glowing fashion after he was criticised by Tottenham fans for using his Twitter account to congratulate Chelsea on winning the UEFA Champions League.
