I think that's to do with Roy's tactics, mate. Young and Milner were piss poor, I agree - the latter especially.

I get your point Pie!! Lots of flying elbows and fake injuries and wind-up tactics! A Rooney winner from the penalty spot after the Italians have had a man sent off!!

Couple of dodgy decisions throughout... Happy with 1-0.

When on the ball Gerrard is quality, look at the way he skinned their left back for the goal. He's 33!!

Parker played the better than in the last two games, but having two 30-somethings in the middle is defo a weakness, despite their quality.

Gotta say though, Joe Hart is an absolute giant for us at the moment!!

Don't be to harsh on Milner, he was ****e, granted, but I think it having to play on the same side as the utterly gobshite Glenda Johnson is testing for anyone.

We've had better sides who have achieved little. I thought from the beginning that Hodgson would achieve as much with far less good material. The team are happier with an English manager...and Roy seems to have some idea how it's done. Our last couple of managers appeared clueless when things went wrong in the finals.

Negatives: defended too deep and lacked inspiration
Positives: we won the group, true grit (when things went wrong, spirited last-ditch defending), Rooney had most of a game, Gerrard responding well to captaincy, and Hart looks a real England GK.

Much better in the second half, but **** we were lucky with the goal line cock up - still get the clip of Lampard/South Africa.

England were very poor. Still don't get the Danny Welbeck fuss.

We weren't lucky. Ukraine were lucky to get the shot away without the officials noticing the offside.

If you're good enough, you're young enough.

You need to read my full post. We're agreeing. I said they were both quality tonight.

Not having a go at the plays Roy should know two 30 yr olds would be slow. So should maybe play another player with them or play them in the 4-2-3-1 formation.

I know you did, I read it. But you also said that them being over 30 is a weakness. I see no weakness.

This I can get on board with, but I'd probably go for the 4-3-3 instead.

Agreed, if you're talking about an indivudual. But when you have to apply this to two or more, particularly when they both play in the engine room, it's harder to argue. To me though, Gerrard is irreplaceable.

We play so deep that we don't need to worry about being out-paced, especially in the centre of midfield. Still don't see what point your trying to make.
