Erm, James Chester is a quality centre back and probaly better than Curtis Davies, Rosenior is better than Spector and Murphy would probaly get in over Dawson and Dudgeon but that's probaly because Dawson is slow and Dudgeon is inexperienced

    What do the stats say,
Just had a brief look at the table on my phone and it says we conceded 44 and Birmingham conceded 51. (Could be wrong)
Surley that highlights the better defence if correct?

    Chester better than Davies? LOL

Caldwell wouldn't start for you (although he'd push it close) but other than that our defence is considerably stronger.

The stats might also say how many goals Curtis Davies scored too and that he got into the Championship team of the year.

    Not necessarily.

There are more variables than just ability, otherwise West Ham would have won the league.

Ignore boys Pete is obviously a nobody who doesn't know a lot about football. By the way Pete, Hull City's defence is better.

I know you're just looking for bites but that's bollocks. You've probably never heard of James Chester, but he's the best defender in this division and his partner Hobbs isn't far behind.

Davies is nothing special, like I said, you won't know a thing about Chester but he's the best defender in the league, he'll play in the PL before long and he's better than a lot of defenders already in the PL. I don't know much about Spector and Murphy these days so I won't make any wild claims like you have done, but you certainly aren't better than us at centre back.

Can't believe any City fan would suggest he's right on this. Davies got in the official team of the year but so what? Chester was voted the best defender in the league elsewhere. The real point in all this is that Davies is just another big, committed centre back though, Chester has an exceptional talent that you hardly ever see in other defenders in this country.

Ok, fair enough, Jack Hobbs and James Chester are a better defense partnership than Curtis Davies and Caldwell/Ibanez, you have a good centre half but his partner is standard at best, we have two quality centre backs plus a quality right back with a decent left back, I would say our defense is better than yours and tbh the only defense that was better than ours last season was Reading's

If you think Davies is just a 'big, committed centre back' then you clearly know less about our defenders than I do about yours.

I said just another one. As in there are **** loads of massive, committed centre backs. Jack Hobbs is another who is just as good and so is Anthony Gerrard at Cardiff. There are loads of them.

What Chester does is perfectly timed tackles, staying on his feet and winning the ball every single time. Better still, he can play a bit too, so after he stops attacks dead by himself he usually starts a counter-attack and we scored a few goals that way last season. It's not a problem that you've never heard of him, hardly anyone has because he doesn't play for what is thought of as a 'big' club.

He's big, strong and can head the ball, so what, seems like a typical centre half, Chester is 5'10 and won nearly every header he went into last season, he's not your typical defense bully, he's tactically gifted and he's a quality tackler, numerous times he picked the ball up and went on a Bobby Moore style run

The point I was getting at was, Fair enough Davies may be better than Hobbs or Chester (I'm not saying he is or he isn't) But at the end of the day you said Myhill had a better defence in front of him, The stats say he didn't. One quality defender doesn't make a decent defence. It's about the whole back 4.

Yes, and 3 of our back 4 would get into your team.

That sounds a lot like Davies.

Davies is excellent on the floor and a top tackler as well as being tall enough to combat aerial threats and score several goals from corners.

The thing is, you probably don't really know anything about Chester. At best seen him play a handful of times, but more likely never. So I can understand why you have made this statement.

Give it a few years and you will realise just how wrong you are.

Davies is ok but nothing special, similar to Hobbs. Chester is by and large a much better player in every aspect except he's not as big and strong. Thought Davies was **** in both games against us last season, but 2 games is nothing to judge him on. He's the only brum defender I'd put in our back four though.

Isn't Spector a center back playing out of position or am I thinking of someone else?

Edit: **** was a bit of an over statement, but he was nowhere near the quality he's bigged up to be. Tel Ben Haim is a better defender.

Some nonsense comments from the Brum fan, our defence is as good as anybody else's in the league apart from the left-back position
