Pompey kick off in League One with a home fixture against Bournemouth on 18th August. Starting with a bang!
Plymouth away, then Bournemouth at home. We haven't had much to get us excited but this has sent a bit of a buzz around the PO postcode.
Man city followed by Wigan. Don't right off Wigan, they're a good team. Coincidently i had Wigan at home as you first home game of the season. And you lost it 4 nil. Lets hope the coincidences continue.
Well, if we can get a few points from our first 5-6 games, and not get slaughtered too often, it will set us up nicely for the remainder. We could have started with "easier" fixtures and failed to win them....THEN we'd have the big boys coming up! I'm not worried; win or lose, these are the matches we all look forward to. The only way to avoid them is to stay in the Football League! Knowing us,we'll probably start with a win at City and lose at home to Wigan
Can't actually remember the last time we won on the opening day. I spose it will be nice to see some teams/fans i've never seen before. Nevertheless, 3 points please and let's get out this league asap.
I don't think we will have to lower expectations for the first game! I would be happy to see a fair performance and some attractive football from us. I won't be too down if we lose.
Do you guys have much of a rivalry with the cherries? I think they relished playing us two seasons back. Be warned the cherry boys can get a bit rowdy when they roll into town. I'm sure SB3 and drinking chums will give them a hearty welcome
Na Bournemouth like us, and thats coming from them on other websites. If some do get rowdy, they'll get the usual treatment. Laughed at and them promptly chased down Frogmore road.
I don't think we have any "problems" with Bournemouth fans. Shame Lee Bradbury has left them, but both Paul Groves and Shaun Brooks have previously been involved one way or another at PFC. Avram Grant lured Paul Groves to join him at West Ham a couple of years back - he's not a bad coach, to my mind.
I can't stop looking at the England fans, when they do a cut away, and wondering if we are looking at the Jackanape.
